I was hoping to be there at the end of June, but my son has a test that's going to throw off the whole plan. So we put it off until the first week of August--that way I can spend my birthday in DL.

There was a time when I wouldn't even consider going to DL during the summer. But it's worth fighting the crowds to see the fireworks and to not be thrown out of the park so early. It's also nice not to have to plan around annual refurbishments. We already were there in April, but we were with such a big crowd that we didn't get to do much.

I'm having a hard time at work lately, so thinking about this trip is keeping me going.

By the way Oregonzooron, My niece Janna says to tell you hi, and tells me to ask you why they don't have plastic straws at the zoo? (OK that's weird I have to ask her what she meant).

Okay, TT, here goes: Plastic straws, and drink lids as well, are some of the things that have a nasty habit of ending up inside animal enclosures...and animals digestive systems just can't handle them. We lost a number of harbor seals to them back, I believe, in the seventies.

Other things not allowed for the same reasons are: balls, frisbees and balloons. (See the back of your ticket for a full list...)

The safety of our animals is our paramount concern.

see you at the zoo....

I just got my AP on the 26th, who do you contact to get the discount price at the DLR Hotels? I am going to be in DLR again for my B-day on the 21st to the 23rd. It would be a special treat to stay at the GC for a night or two.

Just call the regular reservation line and tell them you want the Super Sunday (i.e., AP) rates. There has been some question about needing the AP number at the time of reservation. I didn't have to provide one....which was good because I didn't even have my AP voucher then, but I've read where other folks have had to supply the number.

I leave on Sunday!! Wa-HOOOOOO!!

I will be there June17-23rd. :) First ever AP trip and first without kids in over 6 years. We are celebrating our 10th anniversary and I feel a little guilty for not taking the boys, but we will take them next March. Hopefully they will forgive us eventually.

Jason Reynolds, I noticed you didn't get your question answered yet. If it's not too late here is the info: Call the Disneyland Resort Reservation line at 714-956-6425 and ask for the AP Super Sunday offer. They were offering really great deals and the program runs through June 30. (Thanks to Mousesavers.com for the info.)

Anyone else interested? I had planned on going to the breakfast meet, but would be open to a potluck instead. The last one was alot of fun. Now we just need to find someone who's not afraid :D to do the planning.

I'm doing DLR on June 21-23. Going to Hollywood on the 20th. (taping of the Late Late Show). I'm bringing the bf and some friends. He hasn't been in many many years. (Almost six months for me.) I wanted to be sure to go once Fantasmic had restarted. It will also be my first chance to see the non-holiday believe.

Even though I'm more of a lurker on these boards, I'm seriously considering trying to make a meet. It would be fun to meet some other mp-ers. (And put more faces with the names.)

OK. I'd be happy to coordinate, but I need spme opinions first (uh oh - none of those here ;) ).
Should we just expand the Breakfast Club meet (inside the park) to accommodate a larger crowd?
How many people can't make it due to those pesky block out dates (and therefore would benefit to holding the meet outside the park)
Can I get a general interest poll?
The date would have to be Sunday, June 23 since there's a Lilo & Stitch meet going on the previous day.

Let me have your pulse, MPers and I'll get going on this/start a thread.

Thanks!

Are some of you really good friends or is everyone kind of a stranger to each other? I'll be there for that weekend but it just seems that I wouldn't have much to discuss with anyone.

Jason, a few of the MP folk are lucky enough to see each other on a regular basis and that has developed into friendships both on/off MP, a lot of us have had a chance to meet some of the folks briefly but know everyone best from their posts here at MP....the one meet I got to attend, the Gurrella Birthday Party for Walt instigated by Innerspaceman was totally fun....if you are posting here you already have a lot in common with the people that will turn up at the meet ...whatever it ends up being, a lunch potluck or expanded breakfast inside the park.....Lisa and Chris are two of the nicest people you will ever want to meet!

Uh, Disneyland?

Seriously though, I think we're a rather diverse bunch and its the Disney thing that keeps us together.

As for what we do, here are a few of my experiences:

Potlucks

Never met anyone before going to a Potluck
It was a great way to put alot of names with faces
I quickly learned how inadequate my screen name was when someone actually tried to pronounce it
Everybody there loves Disney and loves to joke and talk about Disney
Seemed to make a lot of friends very quickly

Breakfest Club Meets

The folks at the breakfest Club meets somehow tend to spend a lot of time standing in front of bathroom, I don't know why it just seems to happen.
Some of us seem to take great pleasure in trying to sink boats
We like to walk to park to see what's happening, peering over the green walls, chatting with CMs, or seeing what's behind that unlocked door.
We almost always visit the swans
Few of us are on time (10:00AM) for breakfest, but the Riverbelle serves breakfest till 11:30 ;)
It's a great place for show & tell; Disneyland Paris souveniers, WDW videos, cool CDs & MP3s, etc.
I think we're generally a friendly lot even if we do have some problems with inertia now and then (I'll let other's comment on that), easy to step up to and say Hi

Mouse Adventure

Just attended my 1st one
Lots of people but way too busy to really chat with anyone
You figure out who was who after the fact reading the results and checking out the team photos

Clearly I recommend you come to the next potluck (should we have one) and if not that drop by at a breakfest club meet, or see us Sunday at noon at the hub. We always like to meet someone new.

PS - Thank you mammasilva, you're the sweetest :)

Just planned our trip for late August - driving down this time and should be there the 21st through the 28th. So excited!!:D

Where / when do people meet for the breakfast meet? I've heard about meeting in the hub at noon. Does one look for buttons (don't have a mp one, don't know what they look like) - help I'm shy.

Breakfast: 10 AM (or later) at River Belle. If it's noon, go to the Hub. Check out the pictures posted in the Breakfast Club thread in the lounge so that you know what some of the people look like. If all else fails, sit on the bench by the swans. The redhead that grumbles to the others that someone is sitting on "her bench" will be Not Afraid.

Close enough. For awhile I thought about scanning one of those Sea Monkey ads that you used to find in the backs of comic books for use as my avatar - but Lani beat me too it

These days I settle for "That Guy" (Makes me think of Marlo Thomas  )
