Ron Murdza -- April 2000 -- Wilderness Lodge

Well we just got back.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for a total of 11 nights. It was awesome. The WL has to be our most favorite resort of all. During our stay we ate at: The Coral Reef in EPCOT, The Artist point in the WL, The Yachtman's Steakhouse at the Yacht and Beach Club, The San Angel Inn in Mexico in EPCOT, Citrico's at the Grand Floridian, The California Grill at the Contemporary, The Maya Grill at the Coronado Springs, Spoodles at the Boardwalk, The Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney, Cinderella's Table at the Magic Kingdom and last but definitely not least Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian. We also did 2 Character Breakfasts (1 at the Artist Point at the WL and 1 at the Garden Grill in the Land in EPCOT) If anyone has any questions on dining just give us an email because i think we have eaten at almost every restaurant on the property.

The crowds were not bad at all at the beginning of our stay. We were there from the 7th of April up until the 18th. Our last day was unbelievably crowded. They actually closed Animal Kingdom early the morning of the 18th because it reached full capacity. On the 17th all 3 water parks reached their maximum capacity and were closed.

We tried a few new things this past trip that we though we would share with everyone. We did the Wilderness Lodge tours, They offer 2 tours a day (1 at 9:30 am and 1 at 3:15 pm) We did both of these tours because they are different and they were great. The first one deals with the construction of the resort, Indian Folklore and some of the landscaping features outside. The second one is called the "Tastes of the Lodge" and you actually get to go out back into the smokehouse and sample some ribs being cooked. You then go inside to the Artist Point where a chef comes out and describes how they prepare their famous Salmon cooked on a cedar plank. Of course he comes out with a nice sample for everyone to taste also. Both of these tours are free and you do not have to make any advanced reservations...all you have to do is show up at the WL and wait by the guest services desk. (STAN was GREAT)

We tried a few relaxing things this past trip. First we went to the Fantasia Gardens miniature golf course next to the Dolphin and Swan Resorts. There are 2 course to play. one is the fairways course which is a little hard as it has a lot of hills and sand traps. The second one is true miniature golf course which is themed after the movie Fantasia. Each hole represents a different section of the movie and plays music. It was a lot of fun. If you are an Annual Passholder you get a buy one get one deal and if you are a Magic Kingdom Club Member you get 10% off. If you decide to miniature golf just hop on any bus to the Dolphin Resort and walk on over. We had dinner one night at Spoodles at the Boardwalk and walked over from there. When you are done playing you can walk back over to the Boardwalk or to the Beach Club and stop at Beaches and Cream for some Ice Cream. We also rented bikes one day at the WL and rode them over to Fort Wilderness where they have a petting zoo.

If anyone has any questions please email us we would be happy to help with your trip.
