October 10 - 19, 1997
MOM's NOTE: Matthew is 11 years old and in the 6th grade. Matthew is an average to good student. Now that he is in middle school, he is trying very hard to be laid back and "cool" about everything. Sometimes on this trip, he just couldn't be cool, he gave in and got excited about some stuff.
October 10, 1997
Today I left school about 1: 00. My mom , dad, brother, and I had to go home to get some things. After we left home, we went to the Nashville airport. When we got there we checked in our bags while dad was parking the car. When dad got back in a bus we grabbed all of the luggage we were carrying, scanned them and put it in the lockers. Then we looked around the airport. When we were finished looking around we got our luggage that we were carrying and went to our airplane sight . After a few minutes we got on the airplane and we took off. When we got to the Orlando airport , we rode a train to the baggage claim. We got our bags and put them in a van which we rode to our hotel. When we checked in we went to our hotel. We waited for our bags. When it got there we unpacked, took our shower, and rested.
October 11, 1997
Today we went to Epcot. We looked at a lot of things like souvenirs . We rode the ride of Imagination. Then after that ride we got in line for Honey I Shrunk the Audience. we got in pretty fast . The ride was awesome. Before we got shrunk a mouse was multiplied and the lights went out and they made it feel like the mice were trying to climb up my leg. After that was over they were starting up the shrink machine it got out of control and it shrunk the audience. It also shrunk the professor's son. Then the other son picked up the audience then he put us back down. then the shrunk kid said that he had dropped his snake and then a giant snake came out and stared me right in the face and then he opened his mouth and then the dog came and saved us then the professor fixed the machine and put us backed to regular size, but it got the dog and it got bigger than us and sneezed all over the audience and then we left that ride. We went to all of the countries and did rides and watched shows.
October 12, 1997
Today we went to the Magic Kingdom. The first thing we did was go to Tomorrowland. We rode the Carousel of Progress. It showed how we started off with stage coaches and went up to virtual reality. We also rode Space Mountain. It was a fast moving ride . It was very dark. The ride was very fast and didn't take a long time. Mom and me went to Alien Encounter. They were transporting a friendly alien to were we where. A planet got in the way they saw a life sign transporting him were we where and it was the wrong alien. We also rode Take Flight. It showed a scene where it showed you taking off in a airplane. Then we rode a tour ride. It showed a tour of Tomorrowland. Then we went to Fantasyland and rode some little rides. Then we went to Frontierland and rode Splash Mountain.
October 13, 1997
Today we went to MGM Studios. We rode the Great Movie Ride. It showed different scenes from like Alien. It showed two shoot outs it also showed a scene kind of like Indiana Jones. We also did the Muppet Vision 4-D. It showed some different stuff that the Muppets did all in 4-D. Then we went to this New York back lot. it showed sky scrapers, police cars, and a bulldozer. It was made to look like New York. Then we did Star Tours. We were supposed to go to the Endor moon but the it was the pilots first flight and he took the wrong way. He finally got out of the launching pad and then we where in a meteor shower and we had to go through a meteor. When that was over we rode some more stuff about movies. Then after all that was done we went to the Tower of Terror. First it had a pre-show about the Twilight Zone. Then we dropped first it was two small drops then it was two big drops. Then we went back to the first floor and the ride was over.

Today we went to Blizzard Beach. The first ride we rode Cross Country Creek. It was a little creek that goes around Blizzard Beach. Then we rode Teamboat Springs. It was a big raft that we rode down this water slide and then at the end we got our picture taken. Then after that my brother and I rode the creek again. Then when we got finished with that we went down a real little water slide. Then after that we played on this little playground they had the rest of the time and then that was it.
October 15, 1997
Today we went to the Magic Kingdom again. First we had to go to Tomorrowland and ride the Timekeeper. It was a 360 theater and it showed you going back in time because the time keeper messed up. Then when he figured it out it showed us in the future. After that ride we went to Tom Sawyer's island. To get there we had to ride a raft. When we got there we discovered two caves. Then we found a fort. it had guns that when you pulled the trigger it would make a loud bang. Then in the fort we found an escape tunnel. Then when we left the island. we went to the Haunted Mansion. It showed all different kinds of ghosts . But my favorite was the hitchhiking ghosts they would choose somebody and then haunt them for the rest of the day. After that ride we went to the Hall of Presidents. It showed all of the presidents from George Washington to Bill Clinton. Then we went to Toontown fair. We got see Mickey's house. Then we went to Planet Hollywood to eat dinner. It had different costumes from different movies.
October 16,1997
Today I went to the Disney Institute. My brother and I did. At the Disney Institute we went the Youth center there we had to wait until it was time to go to our group. In the waiting room they had game systems and a pool table. When it was time to go to our group we got in a little circle. The group I was in was backstage Magic. When we got in our group we got our name tags and decided on what we wanted for lunch. when we did that we got in a van and went all over the parks. Then we went and ate lunch. after lunch we went back to the parks. Then when we got back to the waiting area I played games until my mom and dad picked me up.
October 17, 1997
Today we went to Epcot again. We finished Future World. At Future World we did Ellen's Energy Adventure. It showed all about energy, and where we get it. We also did the Living Seas. It showed a lot of different fish and sharks. We also did Horizons. That showed us all about the future. Then we did The Land. It showed us all about land and how to protect the land. It also showed how to grow plants in the sand and that it is better than putting it in the dirt. Then we went to Germany and had dinner and had a bratwurst and a chicken. Then we watched Illuminations. It was a fire works and laser show. They have one every night.
October 18, 1997
Today we went to Typhoon Lagoon. The first thing we did was go to the tidal wave pool. It made waves about six feet tall. Not including the surface of the water down. Then we went to sharks reef. It is a place where you go snorkeling in some salt water with fish and real sharks! Then we did something similar like the creek at Blizzard Beach. It went around Typhoon Lagoon. Then we went back to the tittle wave pool and stayed there until we left. Then we looked around a Typhoon Lagoon souvenir store and got some shirts.
October 19, 1997
Today we went to MGM Studios again. The first thing we did was the Voyage of the Little Mermaid it was a summarize of the Little Mermaid. Then we did the Back Lot tour. First it showed a water show of boats. Then we got on this kind of bus that took us to Catastrophe Canyon. They were shooting a scene and we were right in the middle of it and water came down over us and came down the mountain and splashed over us. Then we also saw different vehicles like the Flight of the Navigator ship. After that we saw the making of George of the Jungle. It showed us the characters the voice of the gorilla. It also showed the robot animals and how they did the dog elephant. Then we did the animation tour. It showed us a sneak peek at some new movies that are coming out. Then it showed us some animation of a character and showed us how fast they can move characters. For example they showed us Pooh asleep on Tower of Terror and he dropped and they showed him change . Then we did the Indiana Jones stunts. It was awesome. They did all sorts of kind of stunts. Stunts from spikes popping up millimeters away from you to jumping through explosions.
The best thing I enjoyed this whole week was everything. Everything was cool in it's own little way.
