Just heard a little news blip about there being 2 deaths in Six Flags parks over the weekend! Wow! One of them they mentioned was due to a rider standing up (stupid people!).

Anyone know more details on this?

I suspect this will bring on another round of safety changes?

Here's more info I just came across:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,53787,00.html

"DENVER — A man fell to his death Monday after
standing up on an attraction at a Six Flags
amusement park, authorities said.

The death came one day after a worker at Six Flags Over Georgia was killed
when he wandered into the path of an upside-down roller coaster and was
struck in the head by a passenger's dangling legs."

This topic would be more appropriate in the "other theme parks" category as the deaths didn't happen at Disneyland, which is what the thread topic implies.

I'm presuming a moderator will move this thread.

Do they know why the worker at SFOG entered the restricted area?

On a different site, I read that the guest who stood up on the Rainbow ride was developementally disabled. They are not really sure why the man would take the seat belt off and attempt to stand up while the ride was moving.

I was at SFEG here in Denver when the man fell to his death. We didn't see the accident happen, but after all the commotion started we went over to see what was going on. We couldn't see much but the EMTs rolling a gurney. We later heard more details. Appearently he was mentally handicapped. He wanted to get off the ride so he unbuckled his seat bealt and then shimmied under the lap bar. I suppose he was scared. There is not much that the parks can do about situations like these.
