Hi,

I'm going to be at WDW with my family in January. I know what type of rodes my 4 year old DS can go on, but I have no idea which rides my DD who will be 18 months old can go on. I would like info for all four parks, thank you.

We took our son for the first time when he was about 20mths old. We took him on the teacups (we just didn't spin it any more than it spins on its own). We took him on Dumbo, Casey Jr. train, the Storybook Canal boats, Small World, Tom Sawyers Island, Mark Twain boat, Autopia and Alice In Wonderland (though this one did scare him a bit). Over at DCA we took him on some of the Bugs Life stuff. He really enjoyed the trip a lot at that age.

To answer the OP, I am pretty sure anything that doesn't have a height requirement is fair game for a toddler at Walt Disney World.

However, I'd avoid It's Tough To Be A Bug in the Animal Kingdom (it's quite scary). In AK, I'd think most of the shows (including the new Nemo show) would be particularly appealing and the Conservation Station (if they would want to groom the goats)

In the Disney-MGM Studios, I'd be very wary of the Great Movie Ride (there's a pretty scary scene from Alien that gets a lot of kids), and LMA and Fantasmic can be loud. And Sounds Dangerous is totally in the dark (but I'd recommend skipping that for the whole party)

In Epcot, Ellen's Energy Adventure can be loud with the Dinos, as well as Illuminations (but you might be able to be back enough that it's not too bad)

In the Magic Kingdom, Snow White can be scary, and the dark rides are, well, dark - so if that's an issue...

In Epcot the Spaceship Earth ride was a hit with my son last October when he was 23 months. He loved it just as much a few weeks ago at age 3.

Oh, that's funny. I asked my oldest nephew if he remembered anything about going to WDW when he was just under three - 'that big ball thing was weird' was about all the 20 year old remembered. He thought it was kind of odd at 3, too. He told his dad, when we got home (Dad had to work) that "We went in the big ball, but I didn't like it". He was in the 'train' phase, though, so he wanted faster moving things, and it just was boring for him (this is the kid who liked BTMRR at that age, and was plenty tall enough for it!)

I'd still bring a youngster on that ride, but don't be surprised if it's not their favorite. I'm thinking both of your kids, REBoehme are going to like the Nemo attraction!

We took our son on GMR during our last two trips. On the earlier trip he was almost 2 and on this latest trip he had just turned 3. Both times, he seemed to find the "Alien" sequence to be hilarious. I think we may need to be worried... :)

Well, I myself am not a parent, and there aren't any youngsters in my family anymore, but I would recomend a few attractions over the others. In Disneyland, don't miss out on Its a Small World, the Casey Junior Circus Train, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Peter Pans Flight, (does it have a height restriction?), and most of the attractions in a bugs land (excluding its tough to be a bug). I would not advise the Mad Tea Party for an eighteen month old. However since you are not going to Disneyland, which I just was reminded of while reviewing the thread, I'll give you some pointers on WDW. Pretty much the same thing goes for the Magic Kingdom, but some of the attractions I have listed above are not found at the Magic Kingdom so don't expect to see all of them. One ride I would have died to be able to go on as a toddler is the Manny Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, don't miss both this, and Poohs Playful Spot. At Epcot make sure you hit the Seas with Nemo and Friends, and walk around the world showcase. Animal Kingdom is perhaps not the best place for an eighteen month old, there are quite a few intense rides, such as dinosaur and expedition everest. However the boneyard, Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, and Maharajah Jungle Trek are all great if your children enjoy traditional zoos, they will be in paradies at these attractions. At MGM studios, well there really isn't much an eighteen month old can do. Rockin Roller Coaster, the Tower of Terror, Star Tours, Lights Motors Action, the Great Movie Ride, and even Fantasmic are probably safe to rule out. Sounds Dangerous takes place in the dark, and can be scary for anyone, however if you really want to see the park, and visit some other rides yourself, the two attractions that might satisfy your child are Jim Hensons Muppet Vision 3D, and the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. They are both shows, but are both amazing, and aside from Star Tours they are both my favorite attractions in the park. I hope this helped, have a blast at WDW.

That is actually a wonderful idea. Not being a MGM Studios regular, it is my least favorite park, I completely forgot about the Playhouse Disney show. It is geared toward toddlers, and as such, it is easy for them to understand.

Actually, an 18-month-old is likely to love that ride. Just be conservative with the spinning for a kid at that age.

When my sister was younger the monorail was her favorite "ride." Go figure! My parents paid all of this money to bring us to Walt Disney World and all we wanted to do was go on the monorail...

Also be sure to visit Mickey and Minnie's Country Houses!
