I heard on the news that a new theme park similar to Universal Studios will be built near the 22fwy and Harbor, 3 miles from DLR. They said it was (I think) a Korean company that has no prior theme park experience.
Anyone else have any info on this??? I know it had nothing to do with the Garden Walk. They showed a map and it was very close to the 22 on the opposite side.

For some insane reason, Garden Grove wants a theme park and a shopping area like Downtown Disney. Being that Garden Grove has a huge gang problem and does not have a good track record with any entertainment project, I think this is a bad idea. I think the Indian Casino Garden Grove wanted, was a better idea than this.

How many theme parks can you cram in to Anahiem, and southern california in general? the DLR already takes up plenty of space, and just a short distance away there is Knotts Berry Farm, Seaworld, Universal Studios, and now a plan for a new park. I am honestly afraid of the impact this could have on the DLR. I would like to hear what you guys think about competition. Will it be in a way good. I can see people who are already in the area stopping by the Downtown Disney District for lunch, and deciding to spend the rest of the day at the park, but I can also see people skipping it for a crazy new amusement park.

I used to live in Garden Grove, we had a gang shooting in the Albertson's parking lot by my house and the high school down the street had 15 different Vietnamese gangs. If Garden Grove is looking for a Six Flags type park, with a Six Flags type crowd, then it will be a place I will never visit, nor will families with children. Cal State Fullerton had to scale back it's location in Garden Grove because the area was so bad and people were afraid to go there. Well I don't think this will get off the ground, its a very bad location.

Anaheim has recently been taking measures to deal with its gang problems.
With the convention Center and sports venues, the area around Disneyland is one of OC's highest volume vice territories.
Maybe a theme park might cause the GG PD to clean up the hood and paint a prettier face on it.

Where exactly where will they be putting this? I was looking at a map of the area and the only place I could see would be taking over the golf-course or the nice big piece of land that disney owns on harbor.

I don't know how to do snazzy stuff with links and such, but Darkbeer has an article from the L.A. Times in the news section. This article makes it seem like it's not such a done deal. Alot of "if" and "should be". It looks like it's still a long way from a done deal.

P.S. It also has a pretty good map in the article.
