QuikQuote: After years of failed efforts to land some sort of tourist attraction, the Garden Grove City Council has agreed to let an investment firm move forward with plans to construct a $4-billion amusement park in a city best known for its annual strawberry festival.
The park, which would include three resort-style hotels, would be built on a 150-acre site on Harbor Boulevard, three miles down the road from Disneyland.
The plan's backers also told the council that they wanted to invest an additional $4 billion to build a nearby retail and entertainment complex.

For those of us that like DL this COULD be HUGE news! Nothing like a competitive second gate to drive Disney innovation. Most importantly, because the strategy adopted at WDW will be unavaliable (get them to the park without cars and discourage leaving the property) it will force Disney to invest to keep attendence (and thus margins) high. Lets hope this actually comes together.

I wonder why Disney hasn't been brought to the table. Can you say Westcot?

woah woah wee wow.
this is exiting.
It's hard to believe that Disney hasn't already bought the land to prevent something like this.
Unless of coarse this TL Properties is just a fake, or puppet company used for proxy real estate.
It wouldn't be that unlike what they did in the 1960s in Florida, would it?

If it is Disney acting covertly, you can bet the city council knows about it, and are agreeing to keep things hush-hush. Maybe they will be bought by an "outside" company and then end up licensing Disney characters, similar to Tokyo Disney.
