I certainly hope not. I'm taking my boyfriend on his first DLR trip in February and would hate for him not to be able to see it in it's normal state.
I thought I had heard it was going to be a night time overlay?

I'd love to see where you got that information.
The official press release for the resort says:
Rockin' Both Parks - Space Mountain at Disneyland and California Screamin’ at Disney’s California Adventure are getting new twists. For a limited time, beginning January 3, 2007, exciting new soundtracks and technology will temporarily transform each attraction into unique rock ‘n’roll experiences with music that will be custom choreographed to heighten the experience of every twist, turn and drop. Rockin’ Space Mountain will be a new experience in which rockets will launch guests through an out-of-this-world rock adventure thanks to the latest and greatest rock ‘n’ roll lighting and technology. Along with new technology and lighting, all systems are go. Riders of California Screamin’ at Disney’s California Adventure will also be treated – and bopping – to a new groovin’ soundtrack. On-board rock 'n roll music will be choreographed to every twist, turn and drop. With a ride track-turned-soundtrack, this is one experience guaranteed to rock guests visiting the Paradise Pier section of the park. The rock ‘n’ roll adventure will last until April 2007. (January-April 2007)

well this project has been on and off again and a bunch of behind the secense stuff we don't know, and it wasn't going to happen. But last I heard since they're changing the outside lighting as well to attract people it was then said it would be a night time thing while during the day it will keep it as is. But that was then and the only info on it, but things change

Rockin' Mtn (and Rockin' Screamin') are supposed to be operating all park hours from Jan - April... just like HMH does Oct - Jan, and IaSWH does Nov - Jan.
The logistics of the day-to-night 'show changes' proved to be too difficult for WDI to pull off without additional daily attraction downtime.
Space and Cali will be rockin' non-stop for 4 months each.

Personally I think it makes more sense to have the overlay in the summer months. Dont get me wrong I love music, but I don't think of rockin it out in Jan and Feb. It seems to me it would fit better in the summer. But on the other hand, you have more visitors in summer. More visitors who would most likely be against the normal attraction themes. Should be interesting.

We will be experiencing them both in Jan. I'm trying to keep an open mind, but already know that I will miss the original music.

I don't go on those rides anyway, because I'm chicken. =]
I really cannot wait for Matterhorn though! =] Does anyone know what kind of improvements/changes they're making? Maybe I should put this in a new thread...

Since no one read my thread from a few months ago, I will repeat myself: IT IS ALREADY THERE!!!!!!!! When I was at the parks a few months ago, I was about to go on Space around sunset. As I walked up to the sign outside of the ride, I chanced to take a glance at it. And then I saw it. It was right in front of our faces the entire time. If you look at the sign as the sun sets, the sunlight falls right on the sign making the formerly invisible fiber optics visible. The word rocking is already on the sign! Look next time you are at the resort.

I just think its funny that even before it officially debuts...folks are already asking when it will go away.
Now that's got to be encouraging sign.

Remember all the threads about how awful it was that changes were coming to POTC?
Remember how they pretty much stopped after people actually experienced the changes?
Almost makes it seem silly to judge these things before they actually happen.
If it is the exact same version of RM they had running on grad nights, then the worries may be valid. But here's a radical idea: why not ride it before you condemn it?
A bientot.

Is there anywhere online where we can hear the music they are planning to use? I remember back when Rockit was first being talked about, that there was a link to hear some sample music. I'd love to hear what they are using for Screamin was well.

Okay, now you have gone too far! Mr. Mom was a lousy Batman. I don't think they have found the right guy to play him yet.
Change is good and welcome. The HM is my favorite attraction and the new bride just made it that much better. One the other hand I personally am sick to death of HMH. They really need to get a fresh idea if they should continue an overlay at the HM annually.

I don't like Pirates now. I use to ride it everytime when I was a DL but not now. I pass on that ride. I don't like Space moutain so no worriers there. I do like Scream mostly but it was loud before after they put in the rocking roll It seems it will be lounder. My ears wont be able to handle it. Has any one seen the Vaction DVD for Dreams the lady makes it sound like a loud (Concert )ride. Oh well we will see.

You guys didn't liek the Batman Begins movie with Christian Bale? I thought it was awesome.
But I've always had a thing for CHristian Bale. Ever since I was 12 and watched Newsies every day. Such a good show.
