If the park opens at 8am, does the ECV rental spot open earlier, now that it's outside of the park? Or, does it open right at 8am as well? We are going on Sat. Nov. 25th (eek!!) and my mom will require a ECV, and are getting our game plan for the morning! Also, there will be 4 adults and 2 children in our party. Will we ALL be able to accompany her through the handicapped entrances? Will they require any "proof" or documentation to allow her through that entrance? She can walk short distances, and at first glance is not obviously in need of assistance, but she in no way could walk DLR all day! She can park the ECV and walk onto a ride, but walking longer distances, or even standing for long periods isn't doable for her.

I can't help with what time the rental kiosk opens, inside the park it opens when the parks do, maybe the new location opens earlier....

I can give you the latest on the HCA entrance with the ECV. For the attractions that the queues don't accomodate the ECV and that is the majority of Disneylands attractions, a party of six, including the person using the ECV can enter the attraction thru the accessible entrance and board the attraction as a group. When you rent the ECV they will give you a little handout explaining more. In Disneyland the Indy queue can accomodate the ECV and I believe Roger Rabbitt and possibly Gadets Go Coaster. There are special parking areas for the parades that are designed for HCA use but not required to be used, you can park along Main Street and enjoy the parade from any authorized location.

Be prepared to wait tho, on Pirates, Space, Haunted Mansion and in Fantasyland often times the HCA line gets very long and due to safety and evacuation issues they restrict the number of disabled parties on each cycle.

Have a great trip!

Have a great trip!Adding to MS's great answer... If you mom can handle walking at times, park the ECV and walk into the ride thru the regular queue. They do limit to 6 people, including the person using the ECV using the HA line. If there are more than 6, what we do is send the person (and maybe 1 or 2 others in the party) in the ECV/chair/dog thru the HA line and have them wait for the party to go thru the line. This works well on many rides. Sometimes the party in the regular line will get to the front before the HA group, then they wait til its the HA turn. As for documentation, the ECV is all that is needed. Be warned, many rides limit the number of "chairs" on the ride for evacuation purposes. In most cases, the limit is 6. This is what usually causes the backup. Also, only half the trains running have a wheelchair car, so you may wait a while using the trains.

Matterhorn, Roger Rabbit, Buzz are pretty much fully accessible. On Matterhorn you are in the regular queue til you reach the "hut", just before you will use the gate where the handicapped placard is. If the 2 kids are video gamers, and you go on Buzz... If you don't care about riding one right after the other, send "mom" and someone to ride, and let the kids get on a ways before "mom"... They will stop to load her, and they can rack up some points!

Oh, and ECVs can't use fastpasses in Disneyland (in DCA they can.) So if you get a fastpass in Disneyland, she will have to walk thru the queue.

DCA is fully accessible, so you use the regular line.

One warning, in case of evacuation on a ride, your party will be responsible for getting "mom" out. CMs cannot assist. BTMRR has a LOT of steps to navigate. POTC has stairs.

Thanks for the tips.

Where are these areas? Will they let me know when we rent the ECV? What about designated areas for fireworks? I know we can watch them from anywhere but it can be so hard to manuver the ECV through crowds!

The parade map on the guide to the magic has the areas marked (or did) but there are no special areas for fireworks unfortunately.

Adding on here instead of making my own thread. 2 weeks ago, I did something I shouldn't have done, and twisted my knee. I'm having some issues walking on it, and its making me nervous thinking about Disneyland and being on it for 11 days. I would consider a wheelchair at Disneyland, but that is a pain making my kids push. So, I was thinking of renting an ecv from off site. Recommendations? I used to hear Alan's was best, but not so much anymore. Thanks.

Alans was totally AWFUL the last time I used them, the equpiment was in such poor condition that the hotel staff urged me to refuse to accept it, I called them and got very very poor customer service and on top of all that at the end of the trip they called ....silly me I thought that I was going to get at least an apology, nope ....turns out that not only did I have a piece o crapola scooter but it was the WRONG scooter, some other guest at another hotel went their whole trip without a scooter because they had put the wrong names on the scooters when they delivered them so I had 'his' and mine was sitting in a storage room for their trip....I can't say this strongly enough, Alans medical is NOT customer friendly!

NOW>.....having said that, the trip after that I used Century Medical (562-280-2840) and have been so thrilled with their product and Customer serivice! Their prices are very reasonable and I know another padder that used them and did have a problem with a scooter and they totally made it right with them, refunding the full amount of the rental! Be warned, when you call it might not sound like a company, their voice mail system sounds more like a home machine, but keep trying.

I went November of last year and was very dissatisfied with Alan's. I had asked specifically for a three wheel wiht basket, what I got was a four wheel with a 450 pound capacity with no basket.

Three days into the trip they were able to get me a three wheeler, but it was in bad shape. I even ran out of power while going between DCA and DL. I had fully charged it the night before. Luckily I found a lamppost with an outlet and sat for about a half hour and then called for them to meet me back at the DL htel. It took almost three hours (in the afternoon) for them to get someone to me to replace the batteries; his excuse was he got lost and could not find the main entrance to the Disneyland Hotel.

Next time I go I will use someone else (unless I get a non-stop and bring my own).
