Seeking the advice of some seasoned parents...
My kids (17,16 and 6) get out of school for Christmas Break at noon on 19DEC06. We leave for WDW on the morning of 20DEC06 and will return 23DEC06. I've told the teenagers we are going to WDW (they are girls and require much advance notice to do anything). I have not told the boy. Our last trip he drove me nuts with "How many wake-ups until Disney?".
I had planned to load him up the morning of the 20th and just let him figure it somewhere along the way. I think getting on the airplane will be a major clue. Here's the rub:
Do to some end of year work issues, my wife (CPA) isn't coming on this trip. Should I tell him we're going so he can say a "big goodbye" to his Mama or just let him call her when he figures out the plans?

I'd tell him when you wake him up and let him have a big goodbye to Mamma, for several reasons....but mostly cuz I'm the mamma and if I were missing a trip with my kids I'd be sad enough that the goodbye would at least help the sting...

This is just what I was looking for!!- a different perspective than my own. THANKS!!!- I think I'll do just that- easier on both of them. I wish she was going too but heavy is the head that wears the crown....

I am heading to Disneyland on December 11th with my aunt and my cousin who is 4 years old. We told her about the trip in early September and since young children have no sense of time I made her a count-down calendar.
Basically, I bought a 2006 Disney Princess calendar and used some cute Pooh stickers to mark the week in December we would be in Disneyland. Then each night before bed she puts a little sticker on the current day so she can visually see how many days until Disneyland.
She really likes it and she does like telling me that we're getting closer to our trip, but she's no longer confused that we aren't going the next day.

Sounds like you've already figured it out and I was going to agree with MammaSilva anyways! But I just wanted to wish you a wonderful trip! Have a great time!

Wow! Thanks for the good wishes and great advice.
Here's where I landed:
Santa (I found him online) will be calling the boy on the evening of the 19th and tell him that as a special early Christmas gift- he's going to Walt Disney World in the morning with his Dad and Sisters.
Mama can't go 'cause she's been bad:~D
Okay, I'm not having Santa say that but it was fun to type.
I'm really looking forward to the trip. The girls haven't been in ten years and the boy will be quite surprised!!
