I will have a 5 year old and a 2 year old on our next trip to DLR. Have any of you ever taken children those ages to the water parks? I'm just wondering if they will enjoy it or if the pool at the Polynesian will be enough.

Which water parks?
We loved the water play areas in DCA. Perfect for both ages.

If you are talking DCA, those parks are great for that age. Mine are 6, 4, 4 and 2 and all 4 of them love them both.
If you are talking a real water park, we have passes to Wild Rivers each summer and the boys love that park. It has a huge area for just the little kids (big kids get kicked off the little kid slides) and two areas where the water is just about 1 1/2 feet high. It's perfect.

Or did you mean WDW and not DLR? I'm thinking maybe, since you also said you're staying at the Polynesian.

Ahhhh...good catch.
IMO, the Disney World water parks are for the older kids. I've been to them pre-kids but they looked a bit old for the little ones. I know they do have a kiddie area but honestly, the hotel pool was such a hit (we stayed at French Quarters in April) that we didn't need anything else.

We took our 2 and 1 year old to Typhoon Lagoon in September. The 2 year old LOVED the (edges of the) wave pool - he was just tall enough to jump over the waves without problems. The 1 year old LOVED the lazy river - they have inner tubes that have seats in them so I just put her in one of those and pushed her around the river. We both had a relaxing time.
If you are considering taking them down the little kid slides, they rent life jackets at the front of the park. The only problem with life jackets is that they tend to get a little warm in them, so just be aware. Also, the parks can be deceptively hot - meaning that while you are in the water, you are fine, but when you leave, you may find that you/your kid are sunburned. Just make sure to wear waterproof sunscreen and bring some with you to "refresh" at the park.

Personally at 2 & 5; they will probably be thrilled with the pool at the Polynesian. I like water parks but I always feel like it is a waste of a day at WDW. We went to Typhoon Lagoon because my oldest was desperate to go. It was great, and they have an awesome section for little kids but I think they would be just as happy at the pool.

Hi, we did Typhoon Lagoon when my son was 18 months old and he absolutely loved it! We stayed in the kiddie area (which was great for him) and he loved Kettchakiddie Creek (I probably spelled that wrong). I was a nervous wreck the first time he went, afraid he'd let go of the inner tube, but you can run along side of them and it's a very gentle ride and he wanted to do it over and over. Have fun!
