I bet you're right Josie. Does your youngest go to Mt. Solo? This is so cool that we live close and all really love Disneyland. How many times have you been there?

Yes, he does (he's an 8th grader). I lived in So Cal until I was 8 so I have been several times but as a family, we have only been the one time back in 2004.
We are driving down in June (with the exception of our oldest son) and will stay at a Good Neighbor hotel (haven't decided which one yet).
I think DH and I are going to try to sneak away by ourselves next November and possibly stay at GCH. (But don't tell the kids... :~D )

I usually start with Kayak.com (http://www.kayak.com). You input your information and it searches many other websites, including most of the airline sites. It then lists the results and you then book directly with the website that is offering the deal.
Unfortunately, some providers have blocked kayak from searching them, so you need to also search them directly. Southwest is one, and some of the other travel sites including Travelocity and Expedia are others.

If I'm flying JetBlue, I have little choice but to book through JetBlue.
If I'm going by Amtrak, I could go to my travel agent, or go through CheapTickets, but I normally go directly to Amtrak's own web site, since it's the only way to be sure my GuestRewards number doesn't get lost along the way, or to their GuestRewards redemption phone number, for any segments I'm getting on points.
Otherwise, if I'm not going through my travel agent, I go with CheapTickets.
BTW, "yenko427" (et al.), my only recommendation about Alaska Airlines is to avoid them if at all possible. Their ontime record is worse (at least in terms of percentage of the total segment time) than Amtrak has when it's running on a hostile host railroad, and their aircraft are the most cramped and ill-maintained I've ever flown on. I've told my travel agent: if it's a choice between Alaska and "the Grace L. Ferguson Airline and Storm Door Company" (from an old Bob Newhart stand-up bit), she should book me on Ferguson.

It's funny how everyone's experiences are different. We fly Alaska from 1-2 times a year for the last 10 and every flight but one has been on time or early. The one flight was 1.5 hours late because a man had a heart attack on the plane after the flight attendant gave a 20 minute speech before take off that the plane was in repair (the wing was pretty much off from what we could see). She stated that "the crew wants to make sure that we all don't crash and die." Keep in mind this was a month after an Alaska flight went down in CA. Hence, the man had a heart attack.
Yes, I did write a lengthy letter to corporate about the unprofessionalism but never heard a word. Southwest is a cattle call. I guess I would use them if it was cheap enough and I felt like being part of the herd.

One more vote for JetBlue. Each seat has Satelite TV. What more could you want!

We don't have JetBlue to Anaheim from Portland. But I hear good things about it!

JetBlue goes from Portland (OR and ME) to Long Beach. It's almost as close as Anaheim. Oh, but you have to go through NY. Well, that's just silly.

I did look up Jetblue and saw NY! That's a weird flight.
We've flown Alaska many, many times. Not once have we come in late to a California destination. In fact, it wasn't until our last trip to Vegas that we had any sort of issue with delays.
Mr kisroo and I flew SW to Vegas last year and when I was looking for ways to lower the cost for our trip this year, he said "I don't care what price you get. I am not flying SW. Ever. Again." The "ABC" seat assignment is horrible, the plane was ratty, and the only good thing ended up being the flight attendants (famous for their 'interesting' safety spiel...)
