We are going to Disneyworld Feb. 3-8 and have rented a condo for our Fam of 5. My question is: Am I able to just add a couple of extra days to our tickets instead of getting a park hopper? I know there are many websites that offer specials like buy 4 days get 2 free. :)
This will be our first trip to Disney!

I think this answers what you're asking:

If you use the ticket to get into MK on Monday, you can't use another day on your ticket to get into Epcot on Monday as well. If you want to go to Epcot on Monday, you'll have to have purchased a hopper.

I would have to say that the park hopper is a must for our family. I haven't gone to DW, but I couldn't imagine not having it even at DL, and there are only 2 parks to visit. I just know that there is going to be a day when we want to go back and visit certain places and rides at different parks.

We are going for our first trip Feb. 2-10. I think there are 2 other people on this board going then too. That's a pretty high ratio going at one time. Hope it isn't too crowded  . Have fun planning!

WDW Magic Your Way "Base" tickets allow one major park (AK, EC, MK or Studio) per day. You can buy a base ticket from one day up to ten days in length. All tickets expire 14 days after first use unless the no expire option is purchased.

There are three possible options which can be purchased and added to a base ticket. You can buy any one, two, or all three.

Hopping allows you to go to more than one major park per day with no extra charge to your ticket.

Water Fun and More gives you between three and six entries into the five minor parks (BB, DQ, PI, TL, WWS). You can go to more than one minor park on one day, but each visit uses up an entry. The number of entries allowed is determined by the number of base days on the ticket.

No Expire will allow any unused major park days or minor park entries to be carried forward forever until used.

A few important facts to consider.

Any MYW ticket can be upgraded to add days and/or options until 14 days after first use. You cannot exceed ten days of entitlements. If you had purchased a three day ticket and decide, after the third day of use that you wanted to add two more days you could.

You cannot use a MYW ticket to enter more than one major park on any one day unless the ticket has the hopper option on it. If you make the attempt, the turnstile will not unlock, the Guest side of the turnstile will state "access denied", and the Greeter side will have on the top line ticket information and the bottom line stating "crossover not permitted". The Greeter will also be able to tell where and when you last used the ticket.

One last thing, if you go to buy the No Expire option the price will be based on the total number of entitlements on the ticket, not the number of days remaining. Also, if you had already paid for no expire and you want to add to the number of days you will not only pay the amount for the additional days, but also the difference in price for the no expire option.

Thanks for your responses. I guess part of being a Disney newbie is that I really have a lot to learn. I had read about park hopppers but thought that you got a ticket that you gave to the park each day. I'm glad that I've started asking questions early (before I bought the tickets). Thanks again everyone!

I found some old tickets that do not have an expiration. Is there anyway to find out how many days these cards have left on them?

At the very least, you should be able to go to guest services at the parks to see what is left on them and to verify that they are indeed still valid. There may be other options that I am not aware of at this time.

I believe the only way to find out how many days are left on older passes is at the Disney hotels or park guest services at the individual parks. The Disney Stores used to be able to do it, but since they are no longer owned by Disney they don't have that capability anymore.

Speaking as a travel agent who has booked hundreds of WDW trips, the MYW ticket with the park hopper option is by far the most popular. Not everyone intends to use a water park or "fun" feature during their vacation, and not everyone can taylor their schedule to just one park per day, but most people use the park hopping feature at least a few times during their stay. Dinner and Illuminations at Epcot after a day at Animal Kingdom, hopping from a crowded park to a less crowded one, going to the late EMH park for a while after visiting a different one earlier in the day, are just some of the ways to use the hopping feature.

Just a note. If you add the hopping feature later after using a few days, the charge is the same as it would be for adding it originally to your ticket. You make the entire pass a park hopper, not just a few days. It's well worth it even if you don't hop every day.

Can you buy park tickets at a Disney Resort or just at the theme parks?
Thanks!:D

You can buy them at the resorts, the parks, and the TTC. However, you can get a small discount by buying them online, from what I recall.
You can also buy them at the Disney Store before your trip if you have one near you. I believe they are discounted as well.

If the ticket is from 2004 or earlier the only way you can check is with a ticket window or Guest Services at and Disney park, including the water parks. We are abl to tell you what entitlements are remaining on the ticket.

Note that you cannot upgrade any ticket that is partially used and the first use is more than 14 days earlier. If you have a completely unused ticket from 2004 or earlier it can either be used for entries or you will get the original Disney selling price to be applied to a new ticket.

Some AAA offices sell them as well. There are also ticket brokers(reputable ones) that offer discounts over buying at the gate. Mary has that info on her website-mousesavers.com.
