View Full Version : How busy will the park be [crowds] [merged]?
jcruise86 10-02-2006, 08:38 PM I liked the convenience of having a thread near the top where experts predicted the crowds, so feel free to co-opt this thread to ask about next week, the week after that, etc.
My brother is a former Vacation Club member and received one of those free, nicely packaged park-hopper passes. He is planning on going on Friday, Nov. 2, soon before it expires.
Does anyone know how many of these passes Disney mailed, and do they all expire on the same date? If so, do you think there will be huge crowds when people to use these?
I'd bet that a high % of people will accept their free day at Disneyland, and I wouldn't be surprised if many people come by themselves to use their individual free passes.
jcruise86 10-02-2006, 08:47 PM Oops.
I failed to see that that thread that was used to predict crowds was still on this first page of Disneyland threads.
A moderator corrected someone for using that thread to predict when the title asked how the heavy the crowds had been in the past. Since most people were using that thread to predict, this thread might have a better name for us Tomorrowland futurist types.
And if this thread gets borged (correct Trekker verb?) onto that one, perhaps melding the predictive emphasis of this one will cause that moderator to become, "One of us! One of us!" (Name that film.)
Darkbeer 10-02-2006, 08:59 PM Based on what I heard, it is in the six figures for the free one day ParkHoppers.
They are good from October 1st thru November 15th.

Thanks, Darkbeer! And thank you for your never-ending fight to help us avoid crowds!
DisneyDustin22 10-04-2006, 08:16 AM I cannot remember for the life of me if they already have most of the set up for the processional the day before or not? This would be that Friday Dec. 1. Does anyone remember if they do or do they wait to set up after the park closes that and have it ready for Sat?
Also, I'm expecting it to be pretty crowded the day before as a result. I've been during the processional and know the crowds and don't plan to do that again this year. But the day before, whatya think?
SDMom 10-04-2006, 12:13 PM bump.
I'd like to read an answer to this. ;)
emmah 10-04-2006, 04:53 PM Last year they started to set up on friday, and continued all day saturday, as i recall. the park was not hugely busy on the friday during the day, but picked up late afternoon. i went on the 50th anniversary tour that afternoon/evening and remember being really glad about it because we got to back-door through some really crazy queues for attractions and the crowds for the fireworks were out of control (making the priority seating even better).
sandmannn69 10-07-2006, 04:29 PM Hi all,
Great forum! Been going every other year from Phoenix since son was 3 (16 now). Going this year on November 1-5, arriving morning of 1st, and wondering how the crowds are first week of November?? Figure day after Halloween shouldn't be too busy, being middle of the week. Thanks in advance for any information.
higcat 10-07-2006, 05:23 PM We are going to be there those exact dates as well and after all the posts about the crowds lately, I'm getting nervous. I figured that time of the year was bound to be quiet, but not so sure anymore. No matter, I won't be at work, the sun will be shining and I'll be at Disneyland with my daughter! See you there.:)
tikiking 10-07-2006, 06:08 PM Wow, us too (or 5: kids ages 8, 4, and 4).
We were there almost those exact dates last year, and Wed./Thur. were great, but Friday into the weekend definitely picked up more than we expected.
Obviously it wasn't enough to stop us from rebooking this year...
Abby's Mom 10-09-2006, 05:14 PM I thought the weekend would be a little busy, but Monday the 24th would be slow, seems like it's been busy lately, any predictions?
IcDkRy16 10-09-2006, 06:04 PM I'm hoping around that time won't be too busy. We'll be there from the 17th through the 20th and I'm not sure what to expect. I know Friday the 20th will be busy, but I'm hoping Tuesday-Thursday won't be too bad.
stan4d_steph 10-09-2006, 07:47 PM I thought the weekend would be a little busy, but Monday the 24th would be slow, seems like it's been busy lately, any predictions? This past weekend was unique with the convergence of Gay Days, the CHOC walk and Columbus Day weekend. Don't use the crowd levels as a barometer for the rest of October. On the other hand, because of the increased Halloween decor, I expect the levels are higher than your typical average Oct. weekend over the past few years.
Sguidgit 10-10-2006, 12:16 AM I'll be there that weekend too...I hope it won't be too bad. I'm sure it will be busier than usual "off season" times, but not summertime/holiday season busy. However, who knows, it could be pretty busy. I'd expect the next weekend to be busier.
LilysMom2003 10-11-2006, 06:39 AM I know this is the big weekend that everyone from Utah comes to Disneyland but when we're talking crowded, what do that mean exactly? Thanksgiving/Christmas week crowded or just a little more crowded than a typical Sunday? We were there a few weeks ago on a Sunday and from opening until lunch it was GREAT....minimal crowds. After lunch the crowds started rolling in but it was still fine. We're bringing my in-laws who haven't been in YEARS so we just want to have a game plan based on the crowds. Anyone been during this Utah weekend before?
kjhgarden 10-11-2006, 08:08 AM I haven't been before but we are leaving tonight from Utah and I know 10 other families going just from our neighborhood. I hear it is pretty crowded and some of our Utah friends go the next week to avoid the crowds. But is it really as crowded as summer or the Christmas holidays? I wouldn't think so but it seems like every weekend people have been posting how crowded it has been, like summer days.
SDMom 10-11-2006, 11:08 AM Question about December: Is the CP weekend the most crowded? (other than between Christmas and New Years?)
kdsmit07 10-11-2006, 11:12 AM How busy is it expected to be next week? I really need to know an idea of how busy it might be...
Thanks for the help.

stan4d_steph 10-11-2006, 11:20 AM Question about December: Is the CP weekend the most crowded? (other than between Christmas and New Years?)Yes, that's usually the case. This year, since Christmas is on a Monday, I would expect the weekend right before would also be very busy.
jsuperk 10-13-2006, 08:34 PM All 7 of us will be there on the 22nd. I will come as a pit crew guy.
jcruise86 10-17-2006, 03:19 PM I'll make this a stump Darkbeer question--that is, it has a high degree of difficulty and requires the AP blackout date calendar.
As a Pasadena resident with a flexible work schedule I can go on almost any day, and I am planning on taking my (toddler) daughter a total of three times in November or December. What do you (anyone) PREDICT will be the LEAST crowded days in Nov. and December?
I was thinking these dates:
Wednesdays: Nov. 1, 15, and 29, Dec. 1 & 13,
Thursdays: Nov. 16 & 10, Dec. 7,
and Tuesdays. Dec. 5 & 12.
I've tried to stay far away from any blacked out dates.
Please let me know about any days to avoid because of potential crowds. Thanks in advance!

What does "CP" stand for and when is it?
kikid 10-17-2006, 03:33 PM What does "CP" stand for and when is it?
Candlelight Processional....
which is Dec 2nd and 3rd. I know the hotels are sold out that entire weekend.."least crowded"? I think not!;)

I think all your dates look fine, I might avoid the 15th of November, since that is the last day of the Free ParkHopper ticket offer that was mailed to many SoCal families, and you might have folks trying to use it before it expires (and I think it will make the November 10th weekend worse than normal, the start of the Christmas stuff, a holiday weekend, and then the free tickets looks like large crowds Friday thru Monday....)
But of course, some special convention might make it busier than expected..... But those are dates I would choose for low crowds.
And FYI, "CP" stands for the Candlelight Processional, a special event held in Disneyland the first weekend in December.
CrazyX2000 10-17-2006, 06:15 PM what do you think about November 2, and November 3? That is Thursday / Friday first week of November. I hope it won't be slammed compared to Veteran's day weekend that we were originally planning, lol. :) Any input would be appreciated, thanks!
