View Full Version : How busy will the park be [crowds] [merged]?
staymooney 03-20-2007, 10:30 AM I was just there 3/11 to 3/16. It was busy. The best days were Tuesday and Wednesday, but by no means were any of our days "dead or quiet" days.
Also, there was a cheer convention on the 17th and 18th and on Friday the 16th the cheerleaders were out in full force! So, I would expect friday the 23rd to be the same. Also, it is spring break for MANY areas. My kids are on spring break from 3/12 to 3/25. I know a lot of other schools are as well. You can search the spring break threads from a while back if you don't believe me. Many year round schools also have the whole month of March off.
I can't really beleive how rude your post was. She asked a question- will it be busy and I answered her- yes it will be busy.
MOST not all schools are not on break right now. The convention you saw the crowds from is OVER. Yes starting Friday it could get pretty bad but this mid week is looking fairly dead. I just called a friend who is there now and they said its pretty quiet. So yes this weekend could be heavy but this mid week fine. Also the person was not even asking about this weekend. Admit it you gave an answer just to give an answer....
samsma 03-20-2007, 10:32 AM I think she posted to help the person, and give her 2 cents worth. Whether or not you agree with her information is up to you!
I posted to tell her, (julw)I agree with her, you were rude!

Thank you Perscilla!
Also- Just to clarify-
3/22 - 3/25
United Spirit Association
Spirit & Dance/Drill Nationals
From what I understand, this is the largest of all the cheer conventions. I think anyone attending the parks these days should expect large crowds at least one day prior and after the convention dates. Do I know for sure? no. But I think it's a pretty safe bet. Would I stay home if I had a trip planned? no. I love Disney and even love it with crowds, but I can mentally prepare myself and my kids if I know it will be a busy day.

WHERE are you getting your info?? From the United Spirt Association webste:
Dance/Drill Nationals
March 23 - 24, 2007
Anaheim Conv. Center (Anaheim, CA)
Not the 22nd. Also the convention cntr website reads the same. I think you might be making up your info to make it relevant. Sorry if this seems rude I just feel keeping my eye on people like you is my duty to Walt.

Gramiangel420 03-20-2007, 11:31 AM Gramiangel - We'll be there the same time as you - I can't wait - I will be there with my dh, my mom and our two 5 year old boys - their first Disney vacation!!! If the crowds are too bad the boys will strapped into their strollers much of the time - otherwise they will be lost for sure!
Safe travels!!
-Amy and crew
You are going to have a wonderful time. The best part will be seeing your boys as they discover the magic for the first time.
Safe travel to you too.
Marilyn and girls:D
samsma 03-20-2007, 11:44 AM Person who wrote thread about spring break and cheer convention was a busybody who just wanted to type somthing.
Sorry if this seems rude I just feel keeping my eye on people like you is my duty to Walt.
Is it also you're "duty" to call people names! I don't think Walt would want you to help him. So you have different info, you don't have to respond to someone with such behavior. I come here to get and give info. If we all wanted personal attacks, we would look elsewhere.
mask41 03-20-2007, 12:02 PM I cannot wait to see the boys faces on Peter Pan (we've been watching the DVD), Pirates, Jungle Cruise, their first roller coaster ride - BTMRR and having no idea how they will react, the first time they see a character in real life - it will truly be magical!!
Now, let's stop all this name calling and nasty accusations and get back to the fun and magic!!!!!!
Thanks again to everyone who has given me such priceless information and tips - I know our trip is going to be grand:D

I would say calling someone a busybody does not warrent a report to the authorities. Some people might think your post is a bit busy if you know what mean. I think there would be people who would think you should mind your own business. I dont know who these people are cause I sure dont feel that way. Who would call you a busybody?? I sure would not.
Darkbeer 03-20-2007, 06:34 PM I was at the park today, and if you talk about a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being a rainy weekday in February and 10 being a Capacity crowd, it was about a 6.5 today, even with some rain in the afternoon.
Long lines everywhere, not as bad as Sunday, but still much heavier than a tyipical weekday. Disney has Disneyland open untill 11 PM for very good reason, and that is that many folks are on Spring Break.
Big Thunder had folks in the stand by queue back towards the exit
Peter Pan was using the extended queue
Mr. Toad's needed the garden to the north
Alice in Wonderland queue was out on the sidewalk
The Monorail queue in Tomorroland was a 3 train wait.
I am uploading photos of the crowds currently...
Christy1968 03-20-2007, 08:48 PM Well hopefully it won't be too bad the rest of the weekdays. We leave tomorrow morning to go to DLR. I am not to worried as we will be there 3 days and we were there a couple of weeks ago for one day and it was pretty empty. Might try doing shows and stuff we never do and will just have to Fastpass things I guess. My dd is on break for the month of March as she goes year round. But Monday she returns back to school. So this is our only chance until June to go. Thanks for the help.
jackaroosmom 03-20-2007, 09:45 PM It is my understanding that this is pretty much the end of spring break, so I am expecting it to be pretty crowded. Unfortunately, it is the only day that I can take my 3 nephews before their 2fers expire and the first day I can use my AP again!
My question is really this: If I get there for the rope drop and ride the most popular rides first and get fast passes for later, can I possibly avoid having to wait in 1-2 hour lines? I am hoping to leave by 7 pm at the latest since they start back at school the next day.
The mere thought of having to wait in really long lines with kids ages 5, 7 & 10 really bums me out. I want to be a good aunt and, but I have my limits. :)
ILovePoker 03-20-2007, 11:28 PM The end of Spring Break?? Don't think so, it hasn't even hit hard yet.

I think your plan sounds perfect! You should eliminate long waits by collecting those fastpasses(gotta love 'em).We did this on Presidents Day weekend, and never had to wait over 20 min, and the boards said 90 min for Space Mountain. Have fun, sounds like your'e a SUPER aunt.
acpalmer 03-21-2007, 07:21 AM The end of Spring Break?? Don't think so, it hasn't even hit hard yet.
I believe she was saying that Sunday, April 15th, the day that she is planning to go, would be the end of Spring Break. Not that right now is the end of it.
And yes, I would say that should be about the end of it. I think your plan sounds great--you should be all set.
jackaroosmom 03-21-2007, 07:58 AM Thanks samsma and acpalmer!
ILovePoker, I'm not sure I understand your comment. I figured since the 2 weeks prior to the 15th were block-out days and that it was also the last day of my nephews spring break, we were heading towards the end of it. But thanks for responding.
Walt'sbirthdaygirl 03-21-2007, 08:12 AM Thanks samsma and acpalmer!

You should be fine, it is the last weekend day of Spring Break for the majority of the schools that either have late breaks, or extended two week breaks. Also, Sunday mornings if you are up and out and at the parks first thing you can collect those fastpasses, hit the fantasyland rides and be well into your day before the crowds get too large.......your plan sounds like it will work just fine.
Leofoenget 03-21-2007, 09:16 AM We have not had our spring break yet. Ours is Mid April
san jose ca I know some families going for the whole week
