Do you bring ponchos or changes of clothes for your kids? I've been on Splash Mtn before many, many years ago and I don't remember getting to wet. But now there is also GRR and I hear there is a water park type thing for the little kids in a Bug's Life in DCA. We are going the middle of Oct. so the weather should still be okay for water. Bringing changes of clothes for all (six kids) would sure take up a lot of room in the stroller. How do you hande the "wet" factor for your kids?

Bring your own ponchos (The ones disney sell are $5 a piece!). You can get them at the 99cent store. You won't need to take a change of clothes if you do this.

If you bring ponchos, bring your own, just like hjschultz said.

Are you going for more than one day? If not, I put the clothes in a locker. It was worth it for me to pay the $7 to have the kids dry. My kids are 5 and 7 and sometimes we were board shorts which dry pretty fast. GRR is really unpredictable. One time we were absolutely soaked by the geyser at the end and other times, not so much. Funny, we've never been soaked on Splash.

We always get a locker. I bring sweatshirts for everyone, and whatever other gear I don't want to leave in the stroller, along with stuff we buy, we just toss in a locker.
I have never brought change of clothes for the kids, but then mine won't go on GRR or Splash, and I don't let them play in the fountains in Bugs Land. Mean mommy, but they can do that in the backyard at home.

Can you rent lockers before DL opens for rides? We want to go to FL and ride Dumbo and Peter Pan first off, so I don't want to take time to rent a locker.

Yes. There are lockers outside of the gates to the right near the restrooms.

I third lockers.

You can have nice dry clothes, and happy kids in the evening when it gets chilly! (It can be nice and warm in Oct, but the evenings can get really cool...starting around 3 or 4 when the sun gets a bit lower.)

When I would take my younger cousins to theme parks w/ water, I would always bring a towel and a change of clothes for us all. Hey, even the kid in me wanted to get soaked by Shamu! ;) It made the trip that much easier and more comfortable knowing we could have fun but had the dry stuff waiting for us.

Anyone know what time the lockers outside the park open if the park opens at 8 am and is not an EE day. (Friday 10/13) I would like to rent a locker before we enter the park but want to enter the park at 8 am. Also do you go through security before 8am or when they open the park, then go through security, then actually enter the park. If we arrive by 7:30 would that be enough time to rent the locker if they are open that early?

The lockers outside area always open because the area is always 'open.' The security check is outside of the park and is also open. 7:30 should be plenty of time.

Our philosophy is...if it rains, buy a poncho:)

I'd be careful with Splash if it's getting kinda cool. Hubby & I got DRENCHED on it on our last visit. Luckily, it was sort of hot out -- the wetness wasn't that much of an issue. However, my socks were still wet hours later when I got home & took them off. Those were some pale, wrinkly feet!!!

Whenever I think it's going to cool down a lot at night, I get a locker for sweatshirts -- and for pants if it was warm enough to wear shorts during the day.
