I am so excited! Any suggestions from experienced cruisers as to what to pack. I have never been on a cruise before, but I am super excited!

Clothes for warm weather. (shorts, t-shirts should do fine for day time). Some polo type shirts and slacks for dinners. Are you doing any of the formal nights for dining? If so, one or two nice outfits for those dinners. Bring your bathing suits for the pools, shoes for walking, a lightweight sweater for walking around the outside perimeter of the ship at night if you wish.

Sunscreen.
Your passports.

I thought passports weren't required until January? My boyfriend and I each have our FL drivers licences, SS Cards, and Birth certificates we were planning on taking.

I'm not sure when those are needed. If they aren't needed now then you won't need them yet. I haven't been on a cruise in a while.

What you have Pirate Girl should be fine. All that's required right now is a photo ID (like your drivers license) and your birth certificate. This is copied from the Disney Cruise site-

All Guests — including children — booked on cruises that sail on or after January 6, 2007 must carry valid passports. Start planning ahead now. Visit My Passport Page for the information you need to apply for a passport, including how much time is required to receive your passport and submit it to Disney Cruise Line®.

So exciting!!! Bring highlighters to mark up your daily schedule. Book any spa stuff as soon as you get on if you haven't done so (same with Palo). Embarkation might look intimidating, but it is painless. You probably won't be able to go right to your room -- but you can go right to lunch.
Enjoy every minute of it!!!!
I'll happily answer any questions as you think of them. :)

Im very excited for you, Pirate Girl. You are in for a real treat.
The tips already provided are all real good. My only other tip would be to make sure that you make copies of all your ID-type materials and keep at least one set packed away.

Also, I bought an ID holder from the shops on board. It is waterproof and hangs around your neck. It is a great way to keep your Key to the World card while on your trip. One tip - it has a breakaway strap that I knotted so that it does not breakaway by accident. I know it may be a safety issue, but I did it anyway.

Not sure if you are a cash-carrying person, but there is NO ATM on the ship. You may want to carry a nominal amount of cash with you if you wanted to do any shopping at the ports of call. Many places do take credit cards as well. You do not need any cash on board or on Castaway Cay.

Feel free to ask questions that may come up between now and then.
Have fun counting down the days!

You do need cash on Castaway Cay if you want to mail postcards. Stamps are .55 for regular postcards and .65 for the larger ones. Very neat stamps. I was glad that I mailed from there.
We were gald that we brought binoculars.

You'll have a blast!

Don't pack your fanciest of fancy clothes. Casual/Dress clothes are fine. Even in the nicer restaraunts like Palo or Triton's it's not formal wear.:)
Many cruises have formal wear at dinners...on Disney's ships, you won't need to.

If you do forget basic sundries, sunscreen, etc...they have them aboard ship.

Bring $$...or put money away to use on your Disney ship card...because they have some unique Disney Cruise Line items to buy, that you won't find anywhere else.:D ...and that includes your time on Castaway Cay (I still wear my hat!).

Have a fun time, and tell us all about it when you get back.:D

I'm so excited. I have a new Digital camera for the occasion! I have saved up a little for souvenirs. Does anyone know if they have Cruise Line scrapbooks etcetera? That's where I would spend my money if they do!!!! I've spent the past week looking up all the menus and shore excursions. I'm so psyched! I haven't had a real vacation in so long I can't even remember!!!! I think this might call for a new swimsuit or maybe a fun sundress! Ron Jon’s here I come! :D

You bet they do! They had a lot of cool stuff along with photo albums and the like.

And if Mrs. GusMan reads this, she would start nagging me on how hers is not full yet because I did not get the pictures developed yet from our last trip. :)

If you like to swim, bring two bathing suits so you have one to wear the next day while the first one is drying.

You can NOT use cash on the ship, except to tip people or apply to your room charges. All transactions on the ship are charged to your room.

Oh... great idea! I'm half mermaid... I love swimming. I plan on spending at least 50% of my time in or near the pool/beach.

One of the BEST items that we took on our cruise was a multi-pocket over-the-door organizer. We got one with mesh pockets in case anything was wet but we could still see what was inside. That way, we could put all the stuff that would clutter up the dresser/counter space in there and keep it as organized as possible (think: sunscreen bottles, sunglasses, cameras, hairbrushes, etc.). We also took those little suction-cup hooks and put them EVERYWHERE to hold stuff (in the bathroom to dry swimsuits, on the mirror to hold our waterproof boxes with our room keys, etc.) With five people in our room, we needed to be as organized as possible!!

DH and I just got off the 7-day Western Carribean Cruise. While mad4mky is right, you don't HAVE to dress up, I DO recommend taking your fancy clothes (you don't need a tux for the guys, a nice suit or suit jacket and slacks are fine and a dress or skirt or slacks/blouse for ladies) because getting dressed up is fun! The ship's photgraphers are everywhere and on fancy dress up nights they have special set-up spots to take elegant pictures, which of course they offer for purchase! :D

OK Ms. Karin -- when are we getting your trip report? :)

Trip report? Oh, was I supposed to do one of those?

Ummm... hot and humid, many naps in air-conditioning. Too much really good food. Don't want to eat form another week. Wouldn't, if not for the bun in the oven...

Great fun, really recommend anyone who's on the fence to jump in the pool, the water's fine. Do it!

Oh, that and DH joined DVC.
