My DS will be turning 7 while we are at WDW and I want to go someplace that will make the most of it. I read somewhere that I need to tell the resort we are staying at about his birthday and they will do something for him, can't remember exactly what it was. I thought they gave him a pin, but is it just a sticker? I know I can get a cake but I can't remember where I can order one from, and I can't remember where I read about it  . I need to make a PS for his birthday but I want to make sure that he will love it. We don't want to go to any of the resorts to eat, we'd rather stay in the park. All I know is that one night we want to eat at Crystal Palace because of the Pooh characters, but those aren't the ones he likes, that would be my 12 y.o. DS :geek: . He really likes Goofy, but I think the only one in the parks is at Liberty Tree Tavern. The menu doesn't sound that good. Has anyone eaten there? Good, bad? Plus, I thought the Unofficial Guide said it was Minnie and friends, but the brochure says "Goofy's Liberate Your Appetite Character Dinner". Has anyone been to this to tell me if it is good or not? He is so excited to celebrate his birthday at WDW. He is such a Disney freak already :p . And to make it even better, we just found out that my sister's family is going with us and his best friend cousin is her DD. I know there was a thread about birthday's not too long ago, but it seemed geared toward adults. My DS is someone who wants anything and everything that could happen for your b-day to happen. Luckily I have enough time to figure it out.

here's an idea... skip the character breakfast in favor of an entire day around his birthday.
start the day with the character breakfast at Ohana's. there he will meet goofy, and if you note on the resv that you are celebrating a birthday he will recieve a card and a special cookie. then head to the MK. make the first stop city hall and get his official birthday pin. for the rest of the day CM's will wish him happy birthday.
It doesn't have to actually be his birthday to get the pin BTW. each park has it's own pin, so you can if you wish do your own pin event by collecting one from each place.
finally if you tell the hotel before hand that you are celebrating his birthday they will do something. on two occassions we have gotten a card and balloons from Mickey, once Mickey delivered them himself.

I'd suggest thinking about Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary even though it's at a resort because it's a lively restaurant that's very popular with families. It's a quick and easy monorail ride from MK and it's fun for kids to enter the resort that way.
Chef's is listed as having Mickey, Goofy, Chip, and Dale, but Minnie is often there, too, and sometimes, also Donald or Daisy. When we went, Daisy was at the front of the restaurant for photos, but didn't circle the room. No guarantees, but when we went for a birthday, the place at the table was set with an autographed placemat tied with a balloon and sprinkled with confetti. The server brought a birthday cupcake and the characters came to the table while everyone sang.
Another choice for seeing Goofy would be at Donald's Breakfastosaurus in AK.
For the birthday buttons, you can get them at the Guest Relations windows just inside each park. Usually, many CMs will notice it during the day and wish your son a happy birthday.
There are no guarantees that your resort or the restaurants will do anything for a birthday, but list it on your reservations and there's a chance they might. Mention it again when you check into either.

Thanx about the tip that the Contemporary is on the Monorail. That does make that possible. It looks like a cute restaurant from the pictures.
That would be fun to get a birthday pin from each park. Don't know if that is possible because they take so long to get to each other, but I will definitely keep that in mind.

You don't have to do it in one day. It doesn't have to be your exact birthday for you to get the button. They don't check IDs or anything.

So can we gather them throughout the week while we are at the different parks so he can wear them all on the same day?

That's one way to do it. (Of course, I wore a birthday button for my entire 40th birthday trip....) ;)

You can make arrangements at Coral Reef to have a diver come down inside the tank at your table with a Happy Birthday banner. I think that would be way cool to a 7-year-old.
