Anyone who chows down the entire 2- to 3-inch horned cockroach gets a pass for four people to cut to the front of ride lines through October 29.
Park officials insist it's safe to eat the crunchy critters, but health officials are cautioning participants.
Consuming live roaches might increase risks of gastrointestinal illness and allergies, according to Bill Mays, Lake County Health Department's community health director.

Yeah my mom called me last night to tell me this.
Not that I've been to that park in about 5yrs, but honestly I always kind of felt like those things are probably always crawling around that & every Six Flags park all of the time. Why bother pointing it out to the guests?
Oh and for the record, ummm no way! It creeps me out. Just a little too disease carrying for me. I have to agree with the health dept on this one.

Now, this is something you won't see at MNSSHP!
(AP) GURNEE, Ill. Six Flags has an interesting proposition for roller-coaster lovers who don't like waiting in long lines.
The Gurnee amusement park is offering a line-skipping pass to people who eat a live Madagascar hissing cockroach.
It is all part of a promotion for Great America's annual Fright-Fest, which starts October 17.

So if you hate paying extra for flashpass, you can now convince yourself that you're actually just paying extra to avoid eating a bug.
Cheers.

PETA isn't happy....
http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/newssun/top/5_1_WA23_SIXFLAGS_S10923.htm
In a letter dated Friday and addressed to Great America General Manager Hank Salemi, Vergerio described the concept as "barbaric" and wrote that PETA asks "that you consider the cruelty associated with this promotion and either cancel it or replace it with a harmless alternative."
"As a corporation that owns animal theme parks, Six Flags has no business encouraging the inhumane treatment of any animal," the letter states. "Presumably, the cockroach was chosen for this 'gag' because of the species' extremely negative image. However, this much-maligned invertebrate possesses keen senses, is quite docile, and has an amazing evolutionary history.
"Every creature on earth is ideally suited to its purpose, whether we know what that purpose is or not. It is unlikely that the purpose of Madagascar hissing cockroaches is to serve as appetizers for an unimaginative marketing scheme."
