View Full Version : SeaWorld/Legoland trip in November
DangerMouse 09-18-2006, 06:47 PM Since dh won't return to DLR until 2008 (when Nemo is actually complete and crowds have eased off a bit), I'm planning a trip to San Diego the first weekend of November, hoping that this is truly "off season" and we won't hit any crowds.
I've scoured this board reading up on everyone's general advice, but I'm wondering if someone can give me advice on which park to go to on which day. We are going to split the parks between a Thursday and Friday. Any advice?
Oh, and any advice on lodging somewhere in the middle? I'd really rather not have to use two different hotels.
Thanks in advance! :D
The old man 09-18-2006, 07:25 PM Can you give the actual dates in have in mind?
ThemeParkAddictOfOC 09-18-2006, 10:42 PM Do they stil have Model Moms on Thursday at LEGOLAND? If so, go there on Friday. LEGOLAND and Sea World are both pretty dead during off-season, unless you mean Nov 9-10. There will be more people at all of the theme parks for Veterans Day. If you mean Nov 2-3, I don't think that anything is going on that I can think of.
DangerMouse 09-19-2006, 06:58 AM We're looking at Nov. 2-3.

Many local North County grade schools are on vacation at this time. Even though I would not expect Legoland to be that busy. As always I suggest getting there at opening. There are a few rides that do get lines.
I would do Seaworld on Thurs. and LL on Friday.
Two hotels are not needed. I would stay in the Carlsbad area, much nicer than around Seaworld--though there are a number of resorts around Seaworld and you will get a more urban/oceanfront experience.

Wow, thank you for that information. We have plenty of flexibility in our dates because we homeschool, and really want to pick a time when local schools are not on vacation. So, any insight into Nov 16 and 17? Or even more helpful would be a link to the San Diego area school calendars? I'm baffled why they would have Nov 2 and 3 off. Do they have Vetran's Day off as well?

Everyone has Veteran's Day off. I agree with Sea World on Thursday. LL on Friday. Even if schools were out, it doesn't mean that everyone is headed to LL. I would be extremely surprised if it wasn't totally dead at LL. The kids might be out, but all of their parents most likely are not off from work on Nov 2-3. Also agreeing that a decent place in Carlsbad is close enough to both parks.

North County San Diego children have off 10/23 to 11/5.
ccoogle 09-26-2006, 10:03 AM Legoland does still have Model Mom Days on each Thursday. Although the park is rarely very busy except on weekends, I would still recomend you arrive at park opening which is 10 AM.
