Just wanted to say Great Job! and Congratulations to all you runners out there! I volunteered this morning and it was so much fun, I'm already looking forward to next year! I met some great people and Disney put on a wonderful event (as usual!) oh, and if anyone wants to give away their medal....haha, just kidding (not really!), those medals were awesome! I went home then came back for the awards ceremony, wow! the awards were really cool! Golden mickey statues, color mickey statues, etched glass (?) awards and engraved wood awards! Wow! Almost makes me want to get in shape to actually RUN the marathon next year (almost)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You guys are the best!

Thanks. It was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed the race. It was NUTS before hand. I didn't realize that 12,000 people had signed up for this AND more people wanted to do it. I'll have to sign up for it next year for sure. You can see a few of the pictures at my Myspace (follow the link in my sig)

The volunteers were great! Thanks for your encouragement. You should run it next year, if you don't have any health restrictions. This was my first marathon. I started training last January, 52 years old and I was 80 pounds overweight. I have lost 38lbs and finished just in time at 3:32, and I walked most of the way, but it was a great experience! You can do it!:D

Way to go jdee! This was my first race also, and I have to say the volunteers were awesome. The friendly faces and encouragement helped immensely. Once I stop being sore I'll be looking forward to the next one!

Thank you to all the volunteers who woke up early and helped! Without you the run wouldn't have been as successful as it was.

We had a great time and plan on registering again for next years 1/2 marathon!

A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers, cast members, supporters, bands, dancers, cheerleaders and online supporters! It was such an encouragement to see and hear all the people along the way. You all really helped make it all happen.
It was my first half marathon and it was great! Running through DCA and DL was just too cool, especially FantasyLand with the music and Dumbo and the Teacups running. I would of liked to hop on :)
Congrats to all of you---We did it!

Congratulations Everyone! It sounds like it was a successful weekend so I hope it turns out to be an annual event!

BTW - what do the medals look like?

Now I better get myself in gear for the WDW full. I think my new training plan is to try to keep up with Steph!!

Congratulations again to everyone who completed and volunteered in the Disneyland Half!!

I had a blast running the marathon. I ran ten miles before a leg cramp in my right calf threatened to knot itself securely there. I walked the final three miles, except when it came to the finish line. I ran thru Downtown Disney right to the end. Re-entering DCA at the end was amazing; when I walked thru the Hollywood Backlot, my mind realized, "I'm actually gonna finish this!"

And yes, all of the volunteers, high schools bands and cheerleaders, mariachi and polynesian dancers along the route were all important to keeping the energy and enthusiasm going after all the fun Disney characters encountered inside DCA and Disneyland during the start. So thankful. This was also my first marathon, finishing in 2:57:40, surprising myself. I'm looking forward to running again next year, hoping to best my personal best by running 11 miles before walking. :p

Did anyone happen to get pics of Chip N Dale dressed as pirates?

Btw I spoke to some runners inside Disneyland after the race, who said they had friends who were picked up and thus did not complete the distance, but still received medals. Can anyone here confirm that they know people who got their medals the same way, even after getting picked up? I have friends who'd like to know; they want to register for next year's and still want to "earn" the medal, but are curious if this might be policy. Thanks.

Is there a site where we can see photos taken during the race?

I haven't learned of one yet. On other races I'm done, the photography company sends out an email, letting you know they've sorted the photos to search by bib number. It usually takes a few days before they've sent the email out. But as soon as I find out, I'll post it here.

I'm surprised Darkbeer didn't post any shots from the event. :(

This is what happened with WDW marathon weekend last year. It took a week or so, but participants should be e-mailed a link to the site.

Yes, some of the people that were swept up, went to pick up medals at the finish...only because they slipped past the volunteers and walked to the finish where they were handing them out. Usually there is tighter security, but not this time.

I only know this because my friends and I met someone at the start and out of 12,000 people they run into her again at the finish line as they were trying to get pictures taken. They cut her timing chip off on the bus and dropped everyone at the finish line. My friends said she was upset because she thought she was within the time frame...so my friends walked her over to where they were handing out medals and she got one.

For everyone who finished, give yourself and extra pat on the back. My sister and her friends wore Garmin GPS devices, and all reported a total distance of 13.3 miles. We confirmed with another guy wearing a polar monitor that we saw at the race, and he also has 13.3. You all had a little extra distance there. ;)

Is there a site where we can see photos taken during the race? They don't appear to be posted yet, but the "official" pictures will be here (http://www.asiorders.com/view_event.asp?EVENTID=11087). You'll be able to find specific people by name or bib number.

Hi there,
Yes, the volunteers were great!!! It was hard doing the race without any of my family or friends to cheer me on so the volunteers really lifted my spirits. It was so funny to have my name on my bib and hear people cheering my name.

I was so bummed to find out that my chip didn't record my final time. I was so busy high fiving the characters that I guess I missed the chip mat. I met my goal which was to not get picked up by the sweeper vans and get the medal. I literally was racing against the sweeper the whole time.

Thanks for the post, Mooshu. That makes sense, it was pretty crowded there at the finish line, easy for folks with bib numbers to easily walk thru and for volunteers not told otherwise to hand them out unconditionally. My friends, tho', who only did the 5k, hope to train a lot in order to earn their medals next year.

I was turned down for a media credential, as it seems most other website photographers were......

I asked, they said no, so I decided to sleep in ;)

With a photo service hired to sell shots from the weekend events, I guess that makes sense they'd let that company have a monopoly.

And speaking of said company, the Disneyland site has been updated with links to those shots. Here's the link:
