View Full Version : YOAMD [year of a million dreams prizes] crrees 09-15-2006, 06:46 AM http://www.mousesavers.com/yearofamilliondreams.html  :D  :D  :D danyoung 09-15-2006, 07:18 AM Well, there ya have it. 3/4 of the mil are taken up with photos, mouse ears, and pins & lanyards. Whoopee!!! Also, it seems like a lot of the special event items might be for events that the average tourist couldn't take advantage of, depending on when they actually hand them out. Underwhelming. Darkbeer 09-15-2006, 10:17 AM So we have The 15 months of 1.25 Million Dreams Some things that caught my eye. Disney is being nice with the big prizes, such as the trips, and will give the winner a set amount of cash that should cover most of the taxes ht need to be paid due to winning. With prizes in groups of 3, it looks like they want to give 1 away at DLR, and 2 at WDW, making sure that Disneyland visitors get a chance at the big prizes. The No Purchase Necessary option is a mail in Postcard (one per person per day), and prizes for in-park will be substituted for (the example they use, the Dream FASTPASS will be turned into the Pin and Lanyard, the Dream Mouse Ears or a merchandise gift basket). But at the odds at about 1 in 60 to win, you are looking at spending $14.40 (24 cent USPS standard Postcard) to win one prize, and the average prize value is $13.92 (the total value of all prizes is $17,412,477 and divide that by the 1,250,000 prizes), so it might be worth it to go with the mail-in entry. Another thing that caught my eye, the Dream FASTPASSes are only good for a single person, but it looks like they will hand them out in batches (for example, starting at 11:37 AM, the next 100 people boarding Splash Mountain will get the Dream FASTPASS, this will allow folks who are together a chance to use them as a group. Also, the prizes are to be given out between opening and 5 PM, so that only one shift of Dream Makers is needed. Also, you can win just by going to Downtown Disney crrees 09-15-2006, 01:08 PM I noticed the 15 months but not the 1.25mill prizes hey i think its cool disney is giving away cruises, DVC memberships and castle stays...its things that they can afford to lose without costing the company enough to go broke Wendi 09-15-2006, 05:19 PM I'm so excited to actually be in WDW for the kickoff!!! rph13 09-15-2006, 06:46 PM How will people be picked? Just random people in the park which ever day or do you have to register? Darkbeer 09-15-2006, 08:24 PM Lets look at the prize split between Anaheim and Orlando, as many prizes are location specific. Just random people in the park which ever day or do you have to register? There are two ways to win, if you are at the parks (or Downtown Disney), you just need to be at the right place at the right time. For example, they have about 350 Dream FASTPASS lanyards to hand out daily at the DLR, so they might decided that the first 100 people (aka a batch) that board Splash Mountain starting at 11:32 AM will get a lanyard. Then 75 to be handed out at the Monsters, Inc. exit starting at 11:58 AM. For the big prizes, it might be find the person sitting on a specific bench at 1:14 PM, and if no one is sitting there, wait until someone sits down. The other option is to enter via the US Mail, you can mail in one Postcard a day per person, the odds are the same as in the park, about 1 in 60. I will go into more detail on this sometime this weekend, as the first day you can start mailing is Monday. Darkbeer 09-15-2006, 10:46 PM Looking at the Disneyland prizes, over 99% of the prizes are these 4 times.... 37% - 156,300 Disneyland® Park and Disney's California Adventure® Park DREAM FASTPASS Badges ARV, $5 33% - 140,000 Pin and Lanyard Sets ARV, $23 19% - 80,000 Dream Mouse Ears ARV, $12 12% - 50,000 Where Dreams Come True Photo Vouchers for one 5"x7" photo ARV, $12.95 (Rounding makes the percentages off). Darkbeer 09-15-2006, 11:53 PM Here is another look at the prizes On a daily basis the following should be handed out at Disneyland... 342 Dream FASTPASS Lanyards 307 Pin and Lanyard Sets 175 Dream Mouse Ears 110 Photo Vouchers Darkbeer 09-17-2006, 10:12 AM Here is a breakdown of the Walt Disney World percentages of the main prizes (I am combining similar prizes). This covers over 99% of the prizes, there are less than 1,000 of the remaining mid to high level of prizes to be handed out. 42% - 345,035 Assorted WDW Parks DREAM FASTPASS Badges ARV, $5 34% - 278,789 Pin and Lanyard Sets ARV, $23 21% - 170,000 Dream Mouse Ears ARV, $12 3% - 28,600 Special Park After Hour event, ARV around $4 to $5 (depending on park) (Rounding makes the percentages off). ekkhogge 09-18-2006, 09:24 AM The other option is to enter via the US Mail, you can mail in one Postcard a day per person, the odds are the same as in the park, about 1 in 60. I will go into more detail on this sometime this weekend, as the first day you can start mailing is Monday. I was reading the official rules and the postcard is supposed to be 3" x 5". According to the USPS website, the minimum allowable postcard is 3.5" x 5". Do you think Disney will just accept postcards 3.5" x 5"? Darkbeer 09-18-2006, 11:53 AM Yes, the official rules HAS to be a typo, what they are looking for is a Standard Sized Postcard. I am using the USPS pre-stamped postcards. (The post office wil reject postcards that are just a 3 by 5 index card). I started a thread discussing how to enter via the mail, you can find it here.... http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=60858 Belleharrigan 09-19-2006, 04:29 PM As far as the Million Dreams sweepstakes in concerned, I signed up on the website. Shannon Darkbeer 09-19-2006, 06:38 PM As far as the Million Dreams sweepstakes in concerned, I signed up on the website. When I visit it now, it says that it is closed. What exactly was the sign up for the sweepstakes on the web? Anything in particular or my name has now just been entered once? Thanks! Shannon There were two contests.. The website entry contest was ONE prize, which was designed to find a family to attend the kick off of the Year of the Million Dreams on October 1st. The second contest is the one with 1.25 million prizes (otherwise known as the Disney Dreams Giveaway), there are two ways to win, either by showing up at the parks in Orlando or Anaheim (including the Downtown Disney areas), or to send a postcard in. There is no internet option for the Disney Dreams Giveaway. Details in how to enter by mail can be found here.... http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=60858 kassandrasmom 06-25-2007, 01:31 PM When I started snooping these sights in planning for my trip in Jan 08 (just became a member a month ago or so) I had come across this thread and thought "ya right..." So I cruised on over to topics that would assist my planning. About two months ago or so, I came across another article talking about the YOAMD sweepstakes. I went back through this thread for instructions on what to do. For the heck of it I sent in postcards from my daughter and I and lo and behold, we got a call from 'Debbie' today and we one a pin and lanyard set. I am so excited. It might not be a night in the castle, but hey, we won something from Disney!! And considering it's a Monday to boot (I really dislike Mondays)...this is a really good day. kassandrasmom 06-25-2007, 01:33 PM Ohh, so most importantly, thank you Darkbeer for your detailed report and instructions. My daughter and I greatly appreciate it!! Drince88 06-25-2007, 03:01 PM This thread is very old. There's a thread in the DL forum (click here (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=60858)) with the latest information, including reports of what people have won. |
