View Full Version : New Universal ticket pricing... 7 days = $85
cocoabeach 09-13-2006, 07:35 AM If you buy advance tickets from their web site, you get a 7 day unlimited park hopper for $85. They don't advertize this at their front gate so you have to purchase online. Makes sense since this is cheaper than a regular two day park hopper.

I can't help but think Universal is taking it in the foot but this should definitely lower the price barrier. Disney 7 day MYW ticket by comparison is $248.
crrees 09-18-2006, 07:34 AM Wow...just wow, $85 for 7 consecutive days? I think thats really gonna force Le Chatliers principle towards Universal. Familys on a budget, but who also want a long vacation are going to look at the 248 bucks it cost per ticket for 7 days at Disney, and 85 bucks at universal and really be pushed on way
Its disheartening because Disney offers much more of a variety vacation destination rather then Universal which is just a binge rollercoaster tycoon with a few outdated movie rides.
bradk 09-18-2006, 07:44 AM universal does it because they need to. i don't think it's going to win anyone over in the long term. the hollywood park gives away (still?) an annual pass for the price of a 1 day ticket.
i'd argue most people go to usf because they're going to disney world. i don't think that great a percentage has the reverse true or strictly only go to universal.
aside from the fact that there's no way universal is a 7 day park. the price is good for 2 days alone, mind you, but it's certainly not going to coerce me to pay $200+ a night to stay on site there.
crrees 09-18-2006, 06:39 PM sure thing, their hotel there is real expensive and really not worth it. I can do both universal parks and seaworld in 2 days..why would i want to spend 7 days there? The very thought of it makes me bored

?
How is $285 for 3 nights and 4 days at the park (included) expensive? That's what the new deal is: 7 days for 85 or 3 nights/4 days at one of their hotels. And it's a nicer hotel than the budget Disney's by far. That's not only cheaper per night than Disney but the parks are free.
It's true that their Portofino is expensive but for a 5 star resort with full spa facilities you get what you pay for.
Are people on this board just being defensive? Why not do both Disney and US?
bradk 09-19-2006, 07:54 AM where does that info come from?
if you go to

it's $200 per adult for 3 nights and a 7 day ticket (!).
and the hotel in question is a standard room at the Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando International Drive, not one of the Universal Resorts.
so that's over $100/night. not sure what the hotel normally charges, but you can easily get a room at the best western movieland for something between $40-$50 or so a night. so that's $150 difference, between 2 adults, it's pretty close to just buying the $85 tickets and finding your own cheap place to stay.
DorkySka 10-09-2006, 05:54 PM Can you do both parks in one day, or do both parks need a separate day devoted to each? $85 dollars sound really intriguing... especially when the people in my party want to do each park (but only devote one day to them).

Depends on when you're going.
I went with 3 other adults on a Friday in early December, and we were able to do everything we wanted to in both parks. We did get there shortly after opening, and went pretty much non-stop until almost closing (which was fairly early). But it wasn't crowded, either. I don't think the 'front of line' pass that Universal sells would have paid off on any attraction, except maybe the Hulk.
I Are Baboon 10-12-2006, 10:29 AM WOW....that seems like a heck of a deal! $85 for unlimited access for a week? I could really make myself sick by riding the Hulk for days on end. :p
nursemelis374 10-12-2006, 11:25 AM I think that the main problem with Universal is that they do not add new things enough. I LOVE USF/IOA, but we did not visit there on our last visit to Orlando because we had visited in 2004 and 2005 and there really wasn't too much different. We have stayed at the Royal Pacific twice and it is a great hotel. I also love that it is so close to both parks.
It also really is just a max-2 day visit. I can't imagine needing to spend 7 days there, especially in the off season.
SuefromRI 10-18-2006, 08:47 PM Anyone know how long these tickets will be on sale? We are planning to go in January, but don't want to miss out, but don't want to spend money any sooner than necesssary.
SuefromRI 11-09-2006, 08:27 PM Since my e-mail notice of this offer is called a fall special I was panicking that if I waited too long the offer would be gone, so I bought my tickets today. I was afraid that they would disappear for the holiday crowds. Even though we aren't going til January I was nervous to wait and miss out. I figured that I should look at it as a Christmas gift expense that I won't get the bill til the beginning of Dec and have to pay it by the end of Dec, so it was worth it for piece of mind. This should guarantee that these tickets will continue on sale for an extended period of time, cuz that's my luck.
