My husband and I are going to Disneyland at the end of the monthand I just found out I am pregnant. :) What fun things can I do besides rides? I know we can watch the parades but I am looking for fun things to do that you would not normally do if you could ride rides. Any suggestions would be great.

Congrats!

Take it easy. Rest when you need it. Be good to yourself, mama.

Well obviously you can't do thrill stuff, but there are still plenty of "rides" you can enjoy safely. You can ride most of the Fantasyland things with the obvious exception of the Matterhorn (which might be down for refurb at that time I can't remember the dates) you can ride Pirates ..there are two drops but nothing so harsh/steep drop to need any form of restraints so minimum risk...you can ride on the Main Street Vehicles and get a different view of Main Street. There's the Jungle Cruise and don't forget to ask for a map at the end of the cruise. It's a small world goes with out saying....the trains...when it comes down to it there are really fewer things you can NOT do than you can do...now over at DCA I'm not as familiar with the park, it's not a fav of mine. I would think that Soaring is probably safe, the shows obviously although I'd probably skip It's tough to be a bug just because. Mike and Sully has a lap bar but I honestly have no clue 'why', it's a slow moving dark ride with no bumps or drops to worry about and it's cute.

Hope that helps.

First Congratulations!

How far along are you? If you are less than 6 weeks check with your doctor about riding certain rides. We went to DL in Feb. when I was about 4 weeks pregnant and my doctor gave me permission to have fun and do the rides I felt comfortable doing (that included: Space, Big Thunder, Splash, Matterhorn, etc.) I did avoid Indy, TOT and Screamin'. But I would doublecheck with your doctor before listening to advice here.

Also, for non ride fun and especially if you are far enough along to have ultrasound pictures, track down characters for pictures on behalf of your unborn child. We have a collage of pictures for our future son's room with Mickey, Winnie, Goofy, Stitch, Woody, the Princesses, etc. holding our first ultrasound picture (even though he is too small to be seen.) You could even take pictures around the park, so when he/she is older can see that you were thinking of them on your trip to DL.

I was about 4 months pregnant with my son at DLR. I could do most things except, thunder mountain, space ( closed anyway) matterhorn, splash, INDY JONES, I skipped the acorn go- coaster in toon town, probably could have done it) autopia ( people bump you) , gris. peak water ride, TOT, Screamin, don't care for mull. drive anyway. mailboomer ( to scared to try it NOT pregnant)

that leaves you so much to do. It gives you a chance to try some of the movies, and shows you might not have done.

I was so tired most of the time, I went back to the hotel for a nap with the 3 year old in the afternoons, so DH could go on the big rides, and he used my ticket to get extra fast passes during the day.

Have a great time, just pace yourself and don't overdo it. Drink lots of water, ( Luckily they have bathrooms everywhere)

What fun things can I do besides rides?

If Golden Horseshoe is reopened, don't miss that.
Don't forget the Opera House on Main Street and the Main Street Cinema.
Do you consider the Tiki Room a ride? I love the Tiki Room.
Go over to Tom Sawyer's Island and wander around, take a seat on a bench and relax for awhile.
Go to the Disney Gallery above the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Innoventions.

Goto DCA:

The Animation Building has lots of interactive non-ride things to do.
Go see Golden Dreams, get your free piece of sourdough bread and a free tortilla.

And like Mammasilva said, there are still many rides you can ride.

Soapbox/Hot Button/Gonna Offend Someone Here Issue alert!

I don't care what other people's doctor's say, if my doctor told me I could go on rides, I'd look him straight in the eye and tell him every reason I think he's wrong and I'd probably switch doctors. The doctors I spoke to all gave me very convincing information - I didn't ride rides for three full-term pregnancies and then some and I had a terrific time at Disneyland doing it. :)

I went several times during my pregnancy... pretty earlyon.. if you are anything like me... you will be very tired... It was all I could do to get around the park...

I didn't brave any rides... Peace of mind was worth much more than any thrill I could get on a ride.

STAY HYDRATED!

IF YOU FEEL SLOW OR TIRED... SIT DOWN.

Your body is doing something pretty amazing right now and it knows what it needs. LISTEN TO IT!

I am glad that this was asked. My good friend is thinking of joining us for a few days in December and she's due at the beginning of February.

I'm going in 2 weeks and will be 18 weeks pregnant and plan on doing tons of stuff.

I will ride just about everything except the mountains/indy, etc since fantasyland rides are no different then riding in a car. I think when it comes to rides you just have to do what you feel comfortable doing, for me going on peter pan or small world is not a risk, (because if you get stuck there is no jerking or sudden movements, etc) but i wont risk going on big thunder or space mountain although others feel comfortable doing that.

Besides rides, there are tons of things (thus why we are still going even though i am pregnant) there are the parades, walking around and taking things in, people watching, shopping, EATING, tons of things to take pictures of, tom sawyer island, the gallery, opera house, flag retreat, riding the train around the park, character interaction (autographs/photos), finding hidden mickeys or "50" mickeys, innoventions...

The thing i love about disneyland is that i feel like i get my moneys worth the moment i hear that little beep at the gate, the atmosphere they have there is unbelievable and you dont have to ride any rides to feel like you had a successful day at Disneyland :)

Enjoy!

I went to Disneyland with my best friend, we were both 4 months pregnant at the time (our sons are a week apart). We each have older boys, mine is 11 and hers is 4. Pretty much anything that the 4 year old could/would go on, we could. That said, it was wonderful just watching all the colors, lights and excitment going on around us as we dreamt of taking our much larger crowd out next time.

My husband went with the 11 year old on all the bigger stuff and they had a blast, while they did that it gave me some much needed sit and people watch time.

Honestly, I can't think of a ride that I "missed" by not being able to go on it. There was so much other to do, see & experience I loved it & I know you will, too!
