I got some new running shoes last night. Figured it was time to get a new pair, since the pair I've got now won't last me through all of my training to race day.

I got Saucony Grid Trigon 4 Rides (http://www.saucony.com/product_detail.aspx?modelID=20000095&type=W), in the lime color. :)

What shoes do you have?

Oohh...swanky! I'm not showing my shoes yet because they are broken down, dirty and disgusting. However, I am hitting Fleet Feet this weekend for new running shoes and you've inspired me...I've been a New Balance person, but I like those Saucony's. I'll have to check them out (and yes, I do realize that fit is more important than looks ;) ).

My new balance are pretty ratty, and I also need to hit fleet feet and get a new pair. Here is what I currently wear:

And when I am on the bike it is this:

these (http://bike.shimano.com/catalog/global/popup_large_img.jsp?CONTENT%3C%3Ecnt_id=1013419867 3243971&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441770669&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302040275&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181419&bmUID=1156961770474)

or on a hot day on the bike:

Both have the SPD cleats that lock into the pedals.

I googled my shoes and this was the first link (http://www.asicsamerica.com/aboutus/pressroom/fall04/041108_gt2100_runnersworld.htm).

They hug my ankle in place. The top is mesh so I can feel the breeze through my toes when I'm wearing my double weave synthetic socks ;)

Saucony grid trigon 4 rides, never needed a break in period were confortable when I put them on and have been comfortable up to 11.5 miles. Then I could just feel them at the top of my toes so I did buy another pair 1/2 size larger for longer walks/jogs. I love them, they make each step roll into the next.

I wear Brooks Ariels, http://www.efootwear.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=436 They are a very good shoe for stability.

I found out that I supinate, and that stability shoes are all wrong for me. I bought a pair of Trigon 4s yesterday, and a pair of Nike Shox last weekend. I ran a 4.25 mile race on Monday and a 10K today in the Shox. I like them both. The Shox are a little stiff, but they take the sting out of pounding the pavement. The Trigons are very cushy. I bought them for running on the treadmill.

Hi all, this is my first post on this forum. I run about 9-15 miles a week, as much for mental health as physical. I also eat healthy most of the time - whole foods, lots of fruits and veggies, complex carbs and protein. I don't need to lose weight, just take care of my body. Now for the topic at hand:

I'm a freak and over-pronate pretty severely even though I have narrow feet and high arches. Right now I'm wearing Brooks Adrenaline 5's.

I don't love them... they aren't a perfect fit for my feet. But they do what I need them to do. Before I was wearing a pair of Adidas A3's that fit like a dream but I had knee and hip flexor trouble from over-pronation.

That orange thing on the tongue is a Nike Plus sensor. Stuck on with extra strength Velcro. It works great if anyone is interested.

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for the Nike Plus sensor tip. I want to get the Sport kit, but don't have the right shoes.

Have you tried the Brooks Ariel instead of the Adrenalines? The Adrenalines are for moderate pronation, the Ariel is the "motion control superhero". I loved them until I realized I'm not an overpronator.

I got the Adrenalines because I was able to try them out at a running store with treadmills and the whole video setup where you can see your footfall in slow motion - so I know they are correcting my pronation enough.

Go for the sport kit! I love it. PM me if you want instruction on how to attach the sensor and I'll dig up the link for you.

I'm probably going to get the Sport Kit as well, especially after I've read how to attach it as you did, jennynoel.

As far as I can tell the Nike Sport kit with the velcro trick works just as well as it does in the Nike shoes.

I did have to calibrate it, but I think that is because the factory calibration is for a man's stride. I would highly recommend calibrating it during your first workout if you can. You need a precisely measured distance, such as a track or a route you've measured before. My one piece of advice and then I'll shut up about it!

The local stores have trouble keeping the sport kit in stock, but I finally got one this week. I just need to calibrate it. Jenny, is a mile a long enough distance for calibration? Also, I noticed it can be calibrated for walking or running -- can it do both?

Yes, a mile is plenty long. I did mine on 1/2 a mile and it is very accurate.

I haven't used the walking feature yet, but AFAIK you can calibrate both walking and running and it will actually be able to tell the difference if you mix both in one workout.

Have Fun!

Thanks Jenny! I think I'll take it down to the trail tomorrow night, and try to calibrate it for both. I meant to do it during my 5K yesterday, but forgot to bring the iPod.
