We are going to DL in October with our six kids. My 7 year old is 46 inches tall and makes the height requirement but just barely hit 40 pounds. She is quite a light weight and so I worry about her on Space Mountain, Indy, and Thunder Railroad as these are rollar coasters. Any one have a child lift out of their seat on these rides even though they hit the height requirement? Is there a weight requirement on any ride? She is quite fearless and I think will want to ride the rides but I worry about her safety.

One of my twins finally hit 40" but is only 36 lbs. He's been fine on all the rides.

There are no weight requirements. I usually sit next to my 4 year old and help hold him to the seat. They have seat belts, and I dont worry about him falling out, but I worry about him feeling like he is going to fall out.

From my own experience, I would not worry - as long as he is strapped in, he should be o.k.

My brothers and I used to fight over who got to ride with my dad - who is slightly overweight. His belly would stop the lap bar way above us - so, when we went on the roller coaster (usually Big Thunder) with my dad, we'd catch air. It was great fun! But, we always made it through fine.

Probably not the best story to ease your worries, though. One thing you could do is bring a stuffed animal or something to shove between your kid and the bar - extra padding and more secure that way.

But, seriously, they should be fine.

My kids are all beanpoles and we have never had an issue on any of the rides. As long as they are tall enough, that's what the CMs look for. I haven't felt unsafe due to their low weight either.

Thanks for the info, I feel much better about letting her ride the big ones.

LOL! that is too funny!

We have this same problem but always have our kids ride together since they are closer in size to each other than to either my DH and I. Our kids are 9, 8 and 6 and the three of them seem to fit better with each other and don't slide all over the bench and the bar comes down as far as it will go. We used to ride with our 6 yr old between us and hang on to him tightly.

As for the foriegn object ie. blanket, coat, stuffed animal, for padding, I don't know if they would even let you do it since I have been told by different CMs to put my bag on the floor (I sometimes take a messenger type bag) before they would let us go, telling me that I could not have anything on my lap. Aside from cushining the slamming into the bar, I don't think it would make much of a difference. If you try it let us know if it works/helps.

Have fun on your trip!
