Mine's "Tell Me Something Bad About Tulsa" by the great, great, great George Strait.

One is a sort of country-western-parody cabaret song: "Tears at the Happy Hour," music by William Bolcom, lyrics by Joan Morris and William Bolcom.

The other is one that Frankie Laine sang, without realizing it was for a comedy: "Blazing Saddles"

I love country music and those of us in Southern California are crying this week as KZLA changed its format. :crying:

Favorite country song: "He Stopped Loving Her Today" classic George Jones.

Not to derail...but my Dad has told all of us, this is the ONLY not hymn he wants played at his service......My dad is a healthy old bugger but I can't listen to it now without getting a bit 'down' so I just don't

Can you get KFROG, Maus?? Last week I was curious so I tried it from San Pedro and it came in fine! It's 95.1.

I'm not a fan, but my all time favorite song is "One Hot Mama" by Trace Adkins.

I've liked other country songs over the years - Crazy by Patsy Cline, Forever & Ever Amen by Randy Travis. But Trace is holdin' my heart these days.

Yup, I've switched to KFROG but I miss the DJs on KZLA. When I took the toll road yesterday to Irvine it was fading in and out. They just don't have a strong enough signal. I'm really surprised you got it in San Pedro. Downtown LA has no country station now.

Sorry for the derail...

My SECOND favorite country song is "Beer for My Horses" with Toby Keith and Willie Nelson. I crank it up and sing along. It's not pretty.

I can't pick just one. I like several country songs.

I do find myself listening to Shania Twain's Forever and Always.

I have lots! Favorite?
Angels Among Us by Alabama.

I don't know if you will remember the story, but a woman in South Carolina reported her two kids abducted in a carjacking. Later they found out she drove them into a lake. :crying: A local radio station played that song interupted with news bytes of the story. Everytime I hear that song now I think of those little boys.:( I know it's sad, but it still gives me goosebumps!

Country music has the best storytellers, bar none. Trace Adkins is not only a great storyteller ("I'm Tryin'") but Mrs. Trace is one lucky woman.

Well, I'm such a child of the 80s, my fav country music is because you've had me watch the videos. And while it definitely runs second to Trace, I have to add Lone Star's "Mr. Mom" to the list for that reason ;)

Since I know you live and breathe U2 I'm not even going to roll my eyes at you...Johnny Cash is country royalty If there were a crown prince of Country Music, Johnny Cash would be the one...married to June Carter Cash of the famous Carter family and the man in black...yeah Steph, he's considered country...

That's ok, Steph, I had to double check that Patsy Cline was, before I posted ;)

Having been a country fan most of my life (I did a span of time of refusing to listen cuz I was a teenager and my folks listened to country therefore it wasn't COOL) then coming home to my "roots" I love all the country from the blue grass of Bill Monroe to the new stuff by Rascall Flatts (my boys!) and Shania Twain and Sugarland! I agree with Helen, the storytellers end up doing country songs...from the hokey dog got ran over by the train I was riding on my way home from prison to the newer more 'real' stuff by Garth and George and the boys from the bowery....without the story there is no song...
