Anyone ever been to and/or, stayed at the Holiday Inn SeaWorld - Double Bedded Suite?

I have looked at the website and the virtual tours, just looks like an average room. I just don't want to get stuck in a cheesy room with rock hard beds.

I just called the hotel, and I can get the 2 bedroom suite for $103.20 the first night, $127.20 the second night. (cheaper direct rather then through GetAwayToday).

What has me boggled is, it says "drive less then 3 hours to see Disneyland".

No clue, have you tried www.tripadvisor.com? I tried looking but it seems there is no hotel that is just "Holiday Inn Sea World."

We usually go cheaper on little day trips anyway. We opted for the Red Roof in Carlsbad a couple of times. Cheap & clean, but not much else. :)

I tried everything I could think of to get a review on that hotel. Nothing came up. :(

I think I'll call GetAwayToday, they're usually very good about the hotels they offer, and don't offer dives, and most of the operators have been to the hotels and can tell you what they're like. And it is only 2 days. When we're in Disneyland for so long, we like a very comfortable hotel because some days we only go to the park 3-4 hours. But I think our time in SD will pretty much be spent outside of the room.

Here's the hotels website http://www.himb.com/hotel.php

OH.. and they have Kids Eat Free! That's a great deal since 2 of our kids will qualify for that, and without a kitchen in that hotel room, we'll be eating out. I love Kids Eat Free. :)

What's its AAA rating. I find 3 stars to be just OK but you can stay there. I wouldn't go if its 2 stars unless you're into Motel 6 quality or just really want to save money.

The site says AAA 3-Diamond Rating Is that 3 stars then?

On the cusp, probably OK.

ACK! Just "probably" OK??

It is only for 2 nights. But I don't want a horrible place either. This will be after we just spent 9 days in Disneyland, I think we want at least comfortable. (not dirty, stinky, lumpy beds, tiny room etc).

Well, it ain't the Ritz. I just find AAA's ratings a little light. I would probably subtract 1/2 star from their ratings.

We always stay at the BWPPI right by DL and it gets a 3 star from AAA. I have found that the rooms range, in my opinion, from 2 to 3 stars.

Well, now that I see the location--I used to work near there--, and read the reviews, I wouldn't stay there either. I would think it shouldn't be too hard to get another hotel--it's off season.

Oh my gosh, someone on another forum I visit just posted the same TripAdvisor reviews, I was coming here to post about it.

AHHHHHH!!!! Run, and run fast!

Now I need to figure out a plan B. :(

Anyone have any suggestions for a room in SD for 5?? That won't be a deal buster?

Let's hear you itinarary first. Then we can help. Exactly what will you do each day? Then we can work on the place to stay.

Thursday we will leave Disneyland area and head to San Diego. We will go to the Wild Animal park that day.

Friday we will go to the SD Zoo.

Other then that, I thought we would see some things in Balboa park while we were at the WAP, and some others have told me to go to the Historical Museum after the zoo on Friday.

The only FIRM plans are the WAP and Zoo.

Well shoot. Now we're talking about doing SD first. That way we can get the exhausting part of the trip over.

If we drive straight to SD on October 24th and stay for 2 or 3 nights. I wonder if we could find better rates because they will be all weeknights?

I like the location and reviews for this place: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review?geo=60750&detail=244513&from=Home&inMonth=08/2006&inDay=25&outMonth=08/2006&outDay=27&adults=2&hs=hac3:10023. Seems about halfway between the WAP and Balboa Park. However do not be on this section on a weekday going southbound between 7am to 11am and northbound between 2pm and 8pm.

Humm.. it looks like the cheapest room that would accommodate us is $198 a night, AND, you have to stay 6 nights.

I think I'll call direct and see what they have.

OK, all the "budget hotels" are like 2 and 3 stars and very low ratings through TripAdvisor.

Would it even be possible to just drive down there for day trips? Stay at the Disneyland area hotel the whole time and just drive down to WAP on day, then another day go back to the SD Zoo?

Is that way too much driving time? I just can't find a hotel that's in our budget ($150 area).

Too much driving. I would only do one day and go to the WAP.

That's kinda what we were thinking too. :(

Well shoot. I thought I had this all figured out.

I called that Residence Inn earlier tonight, and he quoted me $229.00 + 10.5% tax. :s

Where were you able to get the prices above? 2 Queen's and the sofa would suit us just fine. I think that's why I am having a more difficult time, there are 5 of us and it seems most rooms only have 2 double beds and we need at least 2 beds and a sofa.

Whittibo, I found the rates at Marriott.com an hour and a half ago. The hotel has pretty good reviews at Trip Advisor. Good Luck!

Ahhhhhh.. there are TWO Residence Inn's listed as pretty much the same thing. The one I called was "Carmel Mountain Ranch". I'll have to check into this one further. Thanks!

New question. I was searching other threads for hotel recommendations, and found someone that was staying in Oceanside and traveling down to SD for day trips. I presume Oceanside is closer to SD then Anaheim is, but is it close enough for two day trips down?

I am thinking about this hotel La Quinta Inn Oceanside (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review?geo=32815&detail=456087&from=Home&inMonth=10/2006&inDay=24&outMonth=10/2006&outDay=27&adults=2&hs=hac3:10023)
