View Full Version : Pirates Adventure Dinner in Buena Park? tlovesdis 08-19-2006, 02:46 PM Has anyone done this and if so, how was it? Please share!!! Thanks, Tina Sguidgit 08-19-2006, 06:05 PM Sorry if this is useless since it's not personal experience, but my friend went (not I), and said it was an ok show. She much preferred Medieval Times for the show and the food. I'll get there eventually, just to check it out. stan4d_steph 08-19-2006, 06:06 PM See this previous thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=51107&highlight=pirates). Gone2Disneyland 08-19-2006, 06:08 PM My friend chose that place to throw herself a birthday party and I was among the friends who made it. The fact that all eight of us are AP probably stacked the deck, because our fun-loving selves enjoyed the experience. :) The food was decent and the entertaining show, which involved volunteers from the audience, was fun. Similar to Medieval Times just down the street, the audience is divided into six colored sections and each has a pirate leader. There were three different audience-participation games as I recall, where volunteers were called to the edge of the ship to throw colored balls up to your pirate leader or raise colored flags up a mast. There's also a boat race for volunteer kid pirates to race around the mini-moat around the ship. The games were played between the scripted show, which lasted almost two hours I think. Three in our party got volunteered towards the end, and we got dressed up in vests and pirates hats before lugging chests of pirate booty along the length of the pirate ship (that's the stage in the middle of the arena; the audience is seated all around it). IMO the only downer was the sound system. While the cast were all miked, there seemed to me to be only speaker, at the top center of the ceiling! The second downer was that the songs were fairly bland. Oh, well. Lots of acrobats, melodrama, laughts, and fisticuffs. Definitely good family fun, tho' I should mention there were some young adults who took advantage of the beer and wine they sell separate from the admission fee. One last note: we bought discount tickets through a So Cal company called Employee Savings Tickets; if your company's in California and registers with them then you're able to buy them for $44.50 each. http://www.employeesavingstickets.com/ Frogberto 08-20-2006, 12:44 AM We went a few weeks ago, and I didn't feel it was worth the money. The "plot" of this show is ridiculous, something involving a "Pirate Princess", who travels with a "Gypsy handmaiden" who is also a contortionist and aerialist, and although the food was okay, and they did try for audience involvement, it wasn't worth the money. Go to Medevil times twice, or even better - eat at the Blue Bayou and just ride Pirates in Disneyland as many times as you like. Disnerd 08-20-2006, 08:38 PM Doesn't sound like it has gotten any better since they opened earlier this year. Did they still try and shake you down for a tip at the end of the show? I miss Wild Bill's at least it was all you could eat. And after the last shows of the night they would send you home with food. The show was aimed for kids. There is more action and effects in the WaterWorld show at Uni. And with discounts you can get into Uni for the price of the Pirate Adventure. |
