I searched for an answer to this, could not seem to find anything. Sorry if this has been discussed already.

I notice on other sites that seem to use the same (or similar) system for the message boards, I can add a banner file in swf format to my footer. However, it does not seem to work here. Is this not allowed, or is it something that admin needs to 'turn on' for it to work?

Technically can be done with this bulletin board system, but we do not enable it.

Let's put it this way, DR -- we try to provide faster-loading threads and discourage sigs longer than five lines. Do you really think allowing folks to add banner-sized Shockwave Flash files in their sigs would help in this regard?

I don't think so.

Besides that however, Flash can have embedded scripts that wreak havoc on the performance of this board. For that reason I do not foresee us ever allowing it.

I understand, that is why most site limit the five to 15k. I think that is prolly still too big, less then 10 would be plenty.

I just thought it might be cute to see what mousepadders come up with (i had a simple one that counted down the days to my trip), but I wont press the issue.
