Okay, so I am doing the 5k and I just wanted to know if I am supposed to get something in the mail or just show up? Is anyone else doing the 5k? Also I registered my son for the kids race, but when I try to verify his registration, it says he isn't found. I still have his registration confo too!!! Who can I contact about this? Anyhoo, all info would be helpful considering I have not recieved correspondence from Disney. Thanks!!!

You should have received your athlete number pickup card and waiver in the mail, which you will then have to take to the Fitness Expo to get your race packet. You need to pick up your packet before race day. Here's a link to the official page with info (http://disneyworldsports.disney.go.com/dwws/en_US/westcoast/events/detail?name=WestCoast2006HealthFitnessExpoEventInf oEventDetailPage).

I'm not sure who you can call regarding your son's registration. Does the confirmation email you received have any information on it?

Avalosn,
I also signed up for the 5K and have not received anything in the mail. Although my impression was that only those running in the half marathon would receive a packet in the mail. Those running in the 5K would have to bring a print out of the form from the web link that you received when you signed up (it included a waiver) to the fitness expo. If you hear anything to the contrary, please share the info with the rest of us!

I'm registered for the half marathon and received my program and waiver form in the mail last week. But when I checked with a friend who signed up for the 5k, he said he still hadn't received anything as of tonight.

For everyone's reference, here's what it says about 5k particpants:

"Packet Pick-Up:
All registered 5K and Kids' Races participants must pick up their race packets at the Disneyland Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, September 15 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Adults must present photo ID. Waivers must be completed for all 5K and Kids' Races particpants. For everyone's safety, baby joggers/strollers, bicycles, inline skates, skateboards, headphones, and animals are prohibited on the course."

And on another page summarizing the Disneyland Health and Fitness Expo at the Disneyland Hotel Convention Center...

"Please Note: All participants must attend the Expo for race number, ChampionChip and packet pick-up! There will be absolutely no pick-up on race day with no exceptions!"

For the sake of simple peace of mind, hopefully some 5k participants will confirm here getting their program and waiver. Or someone will confirm that they are NOT to get them, as pacdomer suggested.

Thank you for the responses! I was beginning to think I was crazy!!!! My neighbor is a mailman and he has been delivering the half marathon packets. But I have recieved nothing for the 5k. I will go to the expo!!! If I hear any other info, I will let you know.

My experience with the WDW 5K is that it is not organized by the exact same people as the longer events. It's not nearly as formalized, and I have a sneaking suspicion you won't get anything in the mail. Just make sure to go pick up your number on Friday and you'll be set to go.

By the way, my opinion based on the course route for both the 5K and half-marathon for Disneyland is that yard for yard, you get a far better "deal" for the 5K with regard to scenery.

I'm in the same boat - signed up for 5K and have received nothing. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of confused people around DL on Saturday morning.

We called them and they said you had to pick up your pack at the Disneyland Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, September 15 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. If you don't you don't get to run on Sat.

Thanks to everyone for the info here. I haven't gotten the packet yet (registered for the 5K) and my husband hasn't gotten his yet, either (doing the half-marathon).

Maybe when I signed up, I just completely missed a note about needing to pick up your packet on Friday, but I had no idea that was required! Did everyone else know about that? Was there a note on the registration page about it? We had planned on getting to DL late on Friday night (we live in Sacramento), but now it looks like we'll need to get down there earlier.

Thanks again for this news, everybody!

Thanks Tinker Bell!
TikiBird27: There was nothing in the original confirmation that we received that gave any details on check in. I went back to my old papers and there was an email address given that you could write with questions. I wrote and it was returned as undeliverable.

Maybe they are planning to send something, but for people who are coming from a greater distance, it could be difficult to find out last minute that they have to arrive the day before, let alone the issue of accommodations! I'm getting a bad feeling that this is going to be a frustrating day for anyone who isn't searching for info online. I even found it hard to find this thread.

The course/route map has now been posted. Here's the link if you're interested:

Several of us who are registered mentioned that we never received anything. I was wondering if that has changed for anyone. Now that we're a week away, has anyone received anything? (I haven't)
Well see you all next Saturday! :)

P.S. This is my first time trying to insert a link. If it didn't work you can go to the main website by searching for Disneyland 5K or half marathon, then link over to the 5K race info.

My two friends who are registered for the 5k still haven't received anything. They have now made plans to take half days off from work so they can pick up their race packets on Friday.

Nope, I haven't received anything for the 5K.

I'm still so thankful for everyone who posted the info about needing to pick up the 5K packets the day before. (At least I could change my plans around--it's an excellent reason to start my mini-vacation a day early!)

I got an e-mail today about the 5K. It has pretty much the same info already posted on this board, but just for the heck of it, here is what it said (hope it's not too long to post on here):

Thanks for posting the email, TikiBird27. I changed my email months ago after I had registered, so I didn't get it. My friend who is also registered, is supposed to be watching for the email but she didn't mention it.

By the way, the weather is supposed to be perfect on Saturday! A high of 78 which means it will be pretty cool at 7 AM! :)

When you pick up your packet at the Disneyland Hotel, you will have to pay for parking. (I don't recall this being in the email, but I just called & found out.) So, if you have an AP that includes parking, you may want to park at Mickey & Friends & walk over to Disneyland Hotel to pick up your packet.

Mickey & Friends parking lot will be open really early, like 2 AM.

Do you mean open early on Sunday morning, the day of the half marathon? If so, thanks. That was a question I had to ask them when I picked up my packet Friday. :)

Re. the 2 AM parking, I specifically asked about Saturday morning, for the 5K, so I don't know about Sunday. But it makes that it would be. I called the Disneyland Hotel, said I had a question about picking up my packet, they transferred me to someone who had all the answers. You may be able to call the Disneyland Hotel and ask for the Disney Sports dept. because that's where I ended up eventually, and he was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Parking: According to darkbeer's post with the newest press release, in the 2nd to the last paragraph it says there's no fee for parking at Disneyland hotel for the expo. I asked the Disney Sports guy about this today and he knew nothing of the press release. I emailed the release to him & will let you know what I hear. I'm going to print out the press release and take it with me either way.

If you plan to pick up a packet for someone else:
The Disney Sports guy told me you can't pick up someone else's packet unless you have their signed waiver form. I had my friend's receipt confirmation with their hand-written note saying I had permission to pick it up but he said that won't work. I told him those of us in the 5K did not receive a waiver form! He thought it was accessible to us online, but realized it wasn't so he's going to email it to me. I will ask him what other people should do, as I know I'm not the only one in this situation. I'll post again when I get word.

I really hope this is correct information and I'm not causing unnecessary worry. On the other hand I'd really hate for someone to arrive and be disappointed, etc.

Official word as of 3:01 PM today. You cannot pick up a packet for someone else. Everyone must pick up their own. :(

Parking - Still nothing official, but bring the press release if you want to plead your case that there's no fee.
