At the bottom of each post in a thread is a button that says "quote". If you click on that, you will be taken to the standard create-a-post screen, but the post you were looking at will already be in the text box. You can edit accordingly.

The vB codes for quoting are [ quote] and [ /quote] (without the space after the first [.)

P.S. How do you get it in bold type?

Ok, down at the bottom of this page there is a line that says:

"Posting Rules: HTML code is OFF. Smilies are ON. vB code (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/misc.php?s=&action=bbcode) is ON ( code is OFF)."

Now, click on "vB code" and it will take you to a page that explains all of the codes you can use to format text.

Alternatively, when you are composing a post you will see some gray boxes above the box where you type. By clicking on those boxes you can have text inserted with the appropriate code.

B = bold = [ b]bold[ /b] (without spaces)
I = [i]italicized = [ i]italicized[ /i]
U = underlined = [ u]underlined[ /u]
SIZE, FONT, and COLOR are self explanatory.
http:// will add a link.
@ will add an email address
IMG will inline an image (please don't do this unless you have permission to use the image. You will need to provide an outside URL for images as they are not uploaded to MousePad.
# uses a monospace font, this can be good if you need to space characters on multiple lines.
PHP is a mystery to me.
List will create a bulleted list of items.
Quote will separate quoted materials.

Sounds crazy. I'll have to study on this a bit to figure it out (still a newbie at this new fangled computer thingie.) When I was in college we thought we were hot stuff using a mac word processer.

I too am sorta new at this but I have tried writing a book on my computer and pulleeez do not ask me about it! i would like to add a picture or something, but how? do I just save something in my document files?

MR. D, Since you did not mention what application you are using, we can't begin to help you. Not that we handle that kind of help. However you should have a help within the application and it will tell you how to insert a picture.

Thanks Rob but I think I will remain unknown and mysterious. Besides I only get a real burr under my saddle once in a great while so I don't post but a couple of times a week.

I'm sorry. Perhaps I misunderstood. Are you trying to add an Avatar (an image that would show up next to your post)? Your previous post made me think you were trying to add a picture to your book.
