We thought of making a trip to DLP sometime next year and wanted anyone who has stayed at the DL Hotel to give us some of their opinions and would they suggest staying there or would they pick something like Newport Bay or New York New York? What is the best time of the year to go there? What is the weather like there in the spring? Also any tips on AIRFARE would be greatly appreciated! Any and I do many any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Chip. Also this may sound silly but does anyone know what our US dollar is to the new Euro I think it's called is?

I'm planning a trip to the Euro Disney Resort in August. I choose to go in summer because that's when the weather is warmest and all of the shows and attractions are running ( Ex: Autopia, Fireworks, MSEP, etc. ).
It rains allot in France so don't be surprised if a shower pops up on ya no matter what time of year it is. I've been told the best thing to do is to dress in layers. Also, wear darker colored clothing. Tourists are usually identified by wearing bright colors and can end up targets of theft. Wear black !
I've been looking at airfare for the summer season and most round trip tickets are about $800, however, I have a friend that works for an airline, so I'm getting my round trip ticket for only $200.
As for currency, I was told the best thing to do, is get as LITTLE as possible converted and pay with a debit/credit card. People tend to forget when you get your money converted you have to pay a fee on that. Just about every merchant at the resort takes major credit cards and you won't have to pay any conversion fees so use a Visa Check Card or MasterMoney Card if possible.
Currently a EURO = $.90
Sorry I can't help ya much on the hotels and airfare
but I'm sure others will reply soon.

We're leaving for DLP on Sunday, so I can answer some of your questions in detail when I return.

As for airfare, RT was $550 pp. I did extensive searches on all of the major on-line travel searches to get the best deal.

We're staying at the Sequoia wich came with a pagkage that includes a "AP" for 5 days and breakfast.

The Euro flucuates quite a bit. Today it is 90 cents to a Euro which is up a bit from a month ago. You can figure one to one and be safe.

Weather - who knows. I'm bringing lots of layers. The highs are predicted to be somewhere in the 60's.

More when I return.

As far as airfares go, before I got my ticket, I regularly checked airfares on Orbitz. This will give you a good idea of what range of airfares are available.

I'd also follow up with the websites for the individual airlines since some are not part of Orbitz, and others offer may offer cheaper fares. USAirways' website is good in that you can actually look up fares by price (use the 'flexible' option instead of specifying dates) and it will tell you what time period that an individual fare is good for. I ended up with a $500 round-trip fare.

I'll be staying in Paris and taking the RER out to the park, so I can't really help with any of the Disney hotels.

I have a question for the group though. In terms of clothing, do most natives wear slacks/jeans, or do they wear shorts also. Just trying to blend in as best I can.

The Disneyland Hotel is very beautiful and in a great location--right over the entrance to the Park. However, the rates are quite a bit higher than the other hotels.

We stayed at the Newport Bay and thought it was an excellent hotel--we were choosing between that and the Sequoia (which I've heard is nice too).

Our trip report is in Brian's archive--lots more info there (shameless plug :D )

Your trip report was great!! Makes me feel bad that I haven't gotten mine done yet....I just haven't taken the time to sit down and polish it up...:(

When we used the ATMS in Paris and at DLParis....we would take out 100 Euros at a time. When we got home, we found that it came out to be around $88 U.S. Dollars. That's not too bad...because in London, 100 Pounds came out to be $146 U.S. Dollars. Paris is a better bargain for your money!

The ATMS use both English and French (as well as some other languages), so there is no problem using them. Check with your bank what your fees will be though. Those can add up. My daughter switched to Washington Mutual because Wells Fargo had such high fees for using International ATMS...I use Wells Fargo, and it wasn't too bad...It cost me $11.00 in fees for one week of Europe travel Since she was (she comes home today) living in Paris, she had to use the ATM more, and went the cheaper route.

You'll have a great time!:D

I am very sorry but your quote of "Paris is better value for money" is so far wide of the mark it's not true. I hope no one else takes you word for this as they are in for a shock.
I have just returned fom Disneyland Paris and anyone visiting should be warned IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE !!!

Maybe you do get close to 1 Euro for 1 Dollar but that does not mean a thing compared to London. I was shocked at how much things have gone up since the Euro came in to being (my last visit was just under 2 years ago.) Even so Paris has always been a much dearer city than London when it comes to eating out or drinking etc, I say this as a Londoner and a person who has visited Paris more times than I can remember.

A bottle of beer for example was 6 Euros in the bar at the Sequioa Lodge thats $6 or £4! In the Village a beer was 5-50 Euros, even in London you pay no where near that amount except for in a night club.

The amount of foreign currency you get for your dollar means nothing untill you compare prices so please use a little bit more thought next time. In Italy before the Euro you would of got One Million Lira for just a handfull of Dollars, this does not however mean you could live out the rest of your days in luxury! The "Big Mac index" is the best way to compare prices across Europe as the price varies hugely from country to country, unfortunately I didnt go into Macdonalds at Disney Village this time to find out the price there.
