Photos from Friday, August 10th.

A look at the closed Disney Gallery. Interesting the sign says they are installing a new exhibit, and that a couple of banners in NOS still advertise the location...

New cost operations savings program - or indicative or Mr. Rasulo and his indecisiveness on the details of any new idea....

A few photos of the River Belle Terrace before it goes down for Refurb

2 or 3 Subs were out of service, making the Queue wait 210 minutes

Some of the new Disneyland Hotel signs are up, while others are being removed.

A look at the area of the Grand Californian Hotel where Disney has filed for Building Permits to remove some parts of the south wing, and to build a 1,800 sq. foot Model room.

And more, including some duck photos ;)

The Dream Team handing out Pin Lanyards

And a few other shots.

Second, a look at the Disneyland Hotel

http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/gallery/3305383

Basically the name changes, and some new signs.

The Marina Ballroom is now the Magic Kingdom Ballroom.

The Pavillion is now the Sleeping Beauty Pavillion.

And Third, a look at the Anaheim Garden Walk progress

A fence is being built in part of the Simba/secondary DtD Parking Lot, next to the current DVC mock up of the WDW version. Could this be where the GCH mockup for DVC be built?

Most of the Disneyland Hotel signs have been updated with the name changes, but a few still need to be replaced.

Only about a 70 minute wait for Finding Nemo at 5:45 PM (7 subs running)

Short waits and low crowds for a peak summer day (Should be interesting to compare the crowd size to next week, when the SoCal AP holders can once again enter the park)

HalloweenTime Posters have been placed at the parks exits, promoting the event that is scheduled to start in just over a month (September 21st).

Toy Story Mania! construction update

The Cove Bar has reopened after being closed for about a week, and even the bartenders don't really know the real reason why it was closed....

And of course, a few duck photos... :)

And let me highlight some interesting info that came out this week (Well, I find it interesting) while I got your attention.

The second quarter required Campaign Statements are available online in regards to the Zoning Change issue in the Resort Area.

Disney has donated $1.6 million so far to SOAR, and SunCal (the builders) have donated over $400,000 to CDPA. That is already over $2 million spent without even looking at all the expenses that the city has paid for in regards to this matter.

You can find some interesting discussions about it at these links, at a board that has CDPA as a sponsor, and the person (Jubal) who wrote the main articles is a consultant for SunCal.

I tried posting a thread to let people see my photos, but the administrator closed the thread. Something about it being a "duplicate". Do you know what the rules are for posting threads?

You posted the same link three times. We closed two of them ("duplicate") and merged the third here, to the existing "Post your photos here" thread.

See the MousePad Community Policies (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/faq.php) for more.

Okay, I think I'm slowly figuring out how this site works. This should be the place where I post a link to my photos, right? Let me cross my fingers and hope that it works. Here's my link:

It was Bats Day at the park (an unofficial event for Goth fans)

One of the Fantasyland stores is behind refurb walls and closed

A look inside the closed River Belle Terrace, almost anything not bolted down has been removed, including the registers.

At 5:04 PM, a power outage hit the East side of Disneyland and lasted about 5 minutes, many attractions went down, and some never reopened.

A look at the New Park Guides

Enjoy!

Toy Story Mania! construction

River Belle Terrace is closed, and the outdoor patio is behind refurb walls

Over by It's A Small World is an alternate viewing experience, not as spectacular as the main event, but interesting to see. The lights are turned off in on It's A Small World's exterior, which is used as a movie screen and images/film coinciding with the different subjects during the show are projected on to it.
The lack of a crowd is a big plus. And you're closer to the main fireworks, which are launched from an area behind ToonTown. If you'd like to see a few pics, go to my homepage at: http://geocities.com/disneycastmagic

Nice vids...

Yours too. I saw the dates of your vids and didn't know they'd been together that long. I missed seeing them perform at the HoB earlier this year, but I'm hoping to catch them again soon and bring some friends with me.

Thanks... :D

Yeah, the vids were shot in '99.

I've been a fan of The Fab Four since just before then, that summer I think.., and I have no idea when the band formed.

I really wish they were booked to play at DL as much as they used to be.

I did the 5K on Sunday and took a bunch of pictures. Some are blurry because I tried to run and take pics at the same time (not a good idea). So I walked a good bit and stopped some to get some good shots. Enjoy!!!

A look around the parks from the first days of the off-season

First, a general album from Disneyland on September 4th

http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/gallery/3423981

A nice quiet park, much different than summer

Rode Space Mountain, they didn't even bother with a Fastpass queue, just one for everyone. They had the machines on, but they didn't make any difference in your wait time

Found an overflowing trashcan in the queue, near the boarding area of Space

Amazing to see that the Main Finding Nemo wasn't being totally used, about a 45 minute wait in the afternoon

Found a cute little mouse in the Matterhorn queue

Storybook Land and Casey's Jr. are closed for refurb

River Belle Terrace work

More steel is up on the rebuilding of the Fort on TSI

The former Disney Gallery windows have been covered up

Haunted Mansion is closed for the holiday overlay installation

And then a separate album of the new version of the ASIMO presentation at Innoventions

http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/gallery/3426737

The new version is noticeably more fluid and can move easier.

The show is basically the same show as before, but at the end, ASIMO does run across the stage, which is something the old version couldn't.

Then a look around the entire resort area from Wednesday, September 5th

http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/gallery/3429166

First thing I needed to do when I got to the park was to ride the omnibus, I found out Tuesday night that a long time CM, Carl, passed on last Thursday, August 30th. He was a very friendly, nice gentleman and will be missed. Services will be held this Saturday.

Once again, the Nemo queue was less than 45 minutes in the early afternoon

Over in DCA and the Animation Building, Character Close Up has closed for installation of a new exhibit

The Wonderful World of Color barges and most of the testing equipment has been removed from the lake

Toy Story Mania! construction

Major demolition work has happened on the south edge of the Grand Californian Hotel, in preparations for building the new DVC wing. All the grass has been removed, as has all the landscaping and gates of the old Valet Parking lot and the old Paradise Pier Hotel entrance into DCA, including the former turnstile area. They were removing part of the original GCH building while I took photos. Also the old special Taxi Cab queue area for the GCH has been removed.

A look at the Simba parking lot and the temporary setup for the GCH valet parking lot and the new DVC model

Some of the Disneyland Hotel "You are here" maps still have the old hotel tower names

A look at the main Toy Story Mania! building from Katella Avenue

And then a look at the Progress of Anaheim Garden Walk and the World Mark time share hotel.
