Newest Disney director refuses $65,000 annual salary (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2006/06/30/financial/f170417D12.DTL&feed=rss.business) -- SFGate/AP, 2006-06-30
Apple Computer Inc. chief executive Steve Jobs has asked not to be paid the $65,000 annual salary he is entitled to as the newest board member of The Walt Disney Co.

Disney's board Wednesday approved a modification of its director compensation policy for non-employee directors to exclude Jobs from compensation, according to a regulatory filing.

The modification was at Jobs' request, according to a filing Disney made Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

What's his angle? Not that he needs a measly $65K, but he also wouldn't turn it down unless there was a good reason...

He turns down compensation for all boards that he's on. He draws $1 per year salary from Apple and drew $1/week from Pixar before the buyout.

 Strange

Does anyone else do this in the business world? You would think he would still take it and if he does't feel he needs it then he could donate it.

He probably figures that he makes enough on the stock that he owns that he doesn't need token payments for board service.

that.. and as i recall, apple was kind enough to purchase him a $14 million dollar plane or something like that.

remember in Cheers, Robin Colcord and Sam made a bet for one week's salary (or maybe it was a year) and Sam won the grand total of a penny?

the Helmsley corporation was also very generous to Leona til she got caught in her web.
