Does anyone know if DLH will have alternate transportation to the park since the monorail will not be running? My father has multiple sclerosis and part of the reason we stay at DLH is to be able to use the monorail. My Dad gets around ok but anytime we can find him a ride we take it!

It is my understanding they will not have an alternative running.

When is the monorail closing down? We are going in 3 weeks. Is the Monorail still going this summer?

The Monorail closes on August 21st, and MIGHT return December 16th for a couple of weeks during Christmas, but then will reclose for most of the first half of 2007.

I strongly do NOT recommend Alans medical, I rented from them and was very disspleased with the over all service. They charged a delivery fee, the equipment they delivered was in very beat up condition, dinged/dented and the seat actually had rips in it. I had talked to them several times at the beginning of the trip over the condition of the scooter and was told, well we don't send out new equipment YOU people destroy our rentals. At the end of the trip I got a call asking what name MY rental had on it, it did in fact have a different name on the tag but based on the service I'd received to that point I just figured it belonged to the previous renter....turns out that was NOT the case, they delivered several on one run to several Harbor hotels, and some poor guest went without a scooter ALL week long because the one in HIS hotels back room had MY name on it.

My LAST trip I rented from Century, very professional, NO delivery fee, much less expensive and the equpiment was in very excellent shape.

I also rented from Alan's last year. I was very disappointed. The first one was clunky and the battery went dead in the plaza between DCA and DLP. Luckily I found a lamppost with an outlet and was able to charge it enough to get back to the hotel and a service persdon was able to meet me and replace the bad battery. Then a couple of days later they said they needed the oversize one they had given me for someone else, and I agreed to meet their rep at the hotel at a certain time to trade it for a smaller one, and their driver managed to get lost and I had to wait outside more than an hour.

I do not intend to ever use them again either.
