I decided to make my daughter a cookbook for Christmas using my favorite recipes. I was going to take a photo of each finished product. I've taken several and they all come out awful. If I use the flash I get too much glare and if I don't the photos are blurry. Is there some kind of trick to taking photos of food that I'm missing? I use a Canon A80 if that helps.

I use the macro setting on my camera to take close-up shots of food. You can use flash or not depending on the level of light.
