I know both my kids need a stroller to sit in. My oldest will be 5, youngest will be 3, at our next trip. We have APs and have been to DLR numerous times. But I have always taken my Graco DuoGlider, tandem stroller, which is nice to push, seats recline for both kids, trays for them, and me, big basket etc. It is a LARGE stroller and DH hates to fly with it. I am thinking that this next trip, we should take a single stroller for each child. I have a Peg Perego P3, that the little guy could sit in easily, reclining seat, and be comfortable, the basket is nice sized etc. The other stroller, a Maclaren Quest, would accomodate the older one comfortably. I am just thinking it would be easier to push them, travel with etc. The 2 strollers together don't weigh what the DuoGlider weighs to transport. What are your thoughts?

If there is even a small chance you are going to have both boys without your DH I would bring the double. The good about having two is that if one of the boys wants to go back for a nap-the other doesn't have to hoof it the rest of the day.

This is true but then again if your oldest doesn't want to ride you can leave one stroller in the hotel and only have worry about the other. When my son was five he didn't need a stroller until nighttime so we would usually go pick it up after dinner. You could find connectors to connect the two strollers together when you need to move them at the same time, I have also seen a little "skateboard" type contraption that you can screw onto the back of a single stroller for an older child to hitch a ride when they need it. Let us know what you decide to do and how it works out.

Really, that is great...I haven't seen either of those. What great ideas!

You know what I got for my kids is a "Sit and Stand" by Swan (I think that is the brand). I got it off Ebay after seeing someone with one a few years back. I have not seen any place sell them. I have a 3 year old and an almost 5 year old. So my 3 year old sits in the front and my 5 year old can sit or stand in the back part. There is also a basket underneath too. So when I know I might have to push both kids without my hubby (mall, post office, ect) I take this one. Lighter and easier to manuever then my double for sure. It also came with brackets to fit a baby carrier in the seat part, which is cool but I never used it.

Trust me, I have 3 kids and have had at least 20 strollers in the last 9 years. When my hubby is with me I either take the umbrella strollers or these other lightweight ones I got off Amazon (I read reviews very closely). I also have a Peg Perego stroller with the back step for my 5 year old to stand behind as I push, but that gets old real soon. So this "Sit and Stand" works well so he can sit when he needs to! Good luck!

PS~ I also should add I paid like only $75 for this stroller and it is a GREAT buy to me! Got my money's worth and has held up being checked in many times at numerous airports! I see a more "deluxe" version of what I have on Ebay right now at $110 plus shipping, Ebay item #7776163193.

Also there are lots of both of these items on Ebay for a lot less $$$. The only problem I see with the buggy boards is that when the child is sleepy they may not be very good at balancing on them, but it is an option...

I think keeping track of two strollers on a plane trip might be more of a hassle than taking one big Duoglider, but since I've never done it, I can't really be sure about that. For example, only one person is needed to push a Duoglider through the airport, but having two strollers requires two people to push or it becomes another thing to carry besides luggage.

Here's a thought: How about taking just the P3 and renting a DL stroller for your older one as needed? You'd only have to carry and keep track of one smaller, lightweight stroller on the trip down, which would make DH happy and you'd then have storage and a place for your oldest to sit by renting.

Your DS could use that built-in step the P3 has in the back when you don't have the rental for use (i.e., walking from the hotel to the park and back, going through DTD, etc.). My five-year old DD rides the back of our PP Pliko all the time. When our Twin Traveller was stolen at the DLR last year during our Labor Day weekend trip, DH drove home and picked up our Pliko (among other things) so we'd have that back step to use when needed. We did use a rental stroller on one of the days and that worked out fine.

You could present it to DH like this: "Duoglider....or P3 and $8/day (I think that's the going rate these days) for rental." LOL!

Just another angle to consider.

The Peg Perego P3 has a step on the back for a toddler, my 4yo loves riding on it. He just usually falls asleep on the way back to the hotel. Which would be a problem if he was on the step. LOL

Definetly an option to rent one. Then if I took the P3, he could just ride on the step on the back, to the hotel etc. I don't gate check my strollers, that is such a hassle. I just bag them and check them with the luggage.

The seat in the back is a platform seat that allows the child to sit and his back is leaning on the back of the forward seat. If that makes sense. There is also a seatbelt for the backseat too. I have used it once, as my son will sit, then stand, then sit, then stand ;) He has never complained about it be uncomfy, but there is no real leaning back if he falls asleep.

I will take a look around and see what I can find. I don't want to invest to much in another stroller, since I am holding out for a Bumbleride Flyer when baby #3 comes along. Considering I already have 4 strollers, and DH wants a double jogger, I should try not to spend to much on another one now. LOL But they ARE building a new Babies R Us within walking distance of my house, that is opening August 4th, it doesn't hurt to look, right?

I was going to say- why don't you just purchase a real inexpensive one when you get to Disneyland and then leave it there when you go home. (or take it with you if you really like it). I know that both Wal Mart and Target have 1-2 for under $20.00. That way you don't have to worry about the strollers on the plane.

Last time we went, my boys (4 & 2) shared one stroller. If they were both tired, one rode dad's back. It was a short walk to the hotel. Now with baby #3 on the way we need to figure out how this is going to work.

At 3 & 5, your kids may not need the strollers for the airport and the resort. Why not rent a double stroller at the parks?

Disneyland doesn't have double strollers. Consider bringing the two strollers, and if one person goes back to the hotel, either park one stroller, or take it back empty and let the child walk. The 5 yo will probably need the stroller more at night than during the day.

I don't use my stroller/strollers in the airport. I check it/them with the baggage at the ticket counter.
I think we will take the DuoGlider.

The double is a good choice. Even though you don't use it/them at the airport, you'll only have to keep track of/check-in one stroller rather than two.

It will also make for a smoother vacation at the DLR, since you're used to taking the Duoglider. When we used our Pliko after our double was stolen, we had to make some adjustments in what we took to the park (i.e., less room in the storage bin; use a backpack; rent locker) and how we were going to deal with our DD when she got tired. We still had a nice time, but it made for a less smooth trip because we had to make changes in how we usually did things.

Have a great time! :)

When are you going? We've been to WDW during times that I can't imagine trying to get a double stroller through Fantasyland! I agree with the clip solution; my BIL did this with his 2 and it left him very flexible. (Also allowed some sharing of stroller duty!) Have a magical time!

My two cents and what we did last time and plan to do this time.

We have the DUO Glider and have used on three trips. The last trip we took our Peg stroller and a $15 umbrella stroller. The umbrella stroller folds and can hang on the push bar of the Peg.

Also, we would park one of the strollers central to where we would be for a while and would only have to push one around and could easlily recover the other as needed.

Another stroller similar to the Swan is the "Joovy." I've seen a few of them at the DLR too. Here's the website:

We never go during the busy times. This will be the first week in December, so it won't be crowded to the point of pushing a stroller through could be tough. The DuoGlider isn't any wider than a single stroller, just longer, it is a tandem, not a side by side.
I think it would be hard to clip a Maclaren Quest and Peg P3 together, they are not very similar in style. But I might look at that option. LOL I always make DH push.

We are actually contemplating the same issue as we will be traveling to DLR in September with our almost 5 year old and 2 1/2 year old. Actually last year our neighbors went to DLR and we loaned them our brand new Graco Duo Glider and it got ripped off within 2 hours of them being there. It was not misplaced or moved either! They did replace our stroller, but I think we have decided to take 2 strollers anyways. This way we will have more freedom if we do need to split up for any reason, or just want to head in separate directions. We will be using a single Graco stoller for my youngest and a cheapo umbrella stroller for my oldest. I figure she will be walking part of the time anyways, so I can just fold up the umbrella stroller and stuff it in the basket of the Graco while not in use.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Have a great time on your trip. I am a fellow Washingtonian!

Cheers!:)

One more thing. Part of the reason we would not take the Duo Glider is because it was stolen once and I wouldn't want to risk it again. I know the issue of stolen strollers has been discussed at length on other threads. But I have to say I really believe that there are people out there who purchase a $50 ticket to Disneyland and then walk in and out all day stealing expensive strollers. They probably load up their vans or SUV's. I am sure they sell them on Craig's list or EBay and probably make a fortune! It is not worth the risk to me. If they steal our cheapo umbrella stroller or our 5 year old Graco it won't be any sweat off our back.

It is sad to say, but there are people out there who are like that.
