We have decided to go to Disney World Sept 1st through the 10th. We've never done the Dining Plan before... Is there a complete list of where you can eat somewhere, and which restaurants are considered sit down and which are considered quick-service? I saw the partial list in the "Dining Discounts Deals" article on this site, but it doesn't list them all.

Also, with the Dining Plan can you book specialty meals like the one at the Poly or are they off limits?

Thanks for any help!

OK, I do have 1 question that I'm hoping someone can explain. It will be my wife, myself, and my 2 DDs 7 and 5. When it says that for supper you get an appetizer does that mean that all 4 of us get our own appetizer?! Or is it that since the kids have to order off of the kids menu they wouldn't have appetizers available - if that's the case do we still get 2 appetizers (one for each adult?).

Thanks for any clarification.

If there are kids appetizers on the kids menu, they would need to order them from that list. Several restaurants offer child-appropriate appetizers.

If there are no appetizers on the kids menu, the children would be able to select from the adult appetizer offerings.

The menu selections for you and your wife would not be affected.

To build off of what Mickeymac said, in choosing appetisers, this is a great time to sample many different things and really maximise the dining plan's value. Mrs. GusMan and I with our family would really take advantage of it and had a lot of fun sampling the different items.

Same goes for dessert!! :) Ohhhh...cant forget about dessert.

Yes, if you are on the dining plan, when you get back home you will be on a diet plan.

Yeah, I know.... my bad.

I keep telling myself that I have to get in shape before my next trip which includes more than just watching my food intake. But that is for an entirely different thread. :)

One important thing to know is that there is no such thing as a "kids credit" versus an "adult credit." All the credits are the same, in one pot, under the package; you just pay a lot less for the credits, for a kid. If you use a table service credit for a child, then you must order from the kids' menu. You are not required, however, to use a credit for each person dining at that meal. With the exception of a buffet or family-service style meal (unlimited food brought to the table), you can share your meal with your child. There is a lot of food on the plan, and a child may make a meal from an adult appetizer, for example, or you can just share your entriee. Or, if the kids' meal is inexpensive, just pay cash for it. The servers have been very good about the creative acounting, and I've never had a problem paying for some meals, or sharing. The credits saved can then go for a signature (2 credit) meal. For counter service meals, technically, you must order a kids meal for a kid, but that is usually not enforced, so you could, for example, order a larger meal, to be shared. For the table service menus and prices, go to the dining section on www.allearsnet.com. You can decide, before you make your ressies, which places you may want to pay for the kids, or share meals.
