Taking my 80 year old Mother-in-Law on a DCL (Eastern) next year. She's used to cruises with casinos, so I am preparing her in advance. I think I'll be able to appease her with the Bingo opportunities. Obviously they don't play for cash. Are there prizes involved? Are they like silly trinkets or Disney plush or ??? Has anyone played Bingo on a Disney cruise before? Please fill me in on the basics. Do you have to sign up early...does it book up?

Hi Cubsfan!
From what I do recall, they do have bingo and there is a cash jackpot of sorts as it is not free to play. If you check the "Personal Navigator", the ships daily newsletter, you can find the opportunites to play.
Also from what I recall, it is not like a huge, all day kind of thing, but a scheduled event much like many of the activities on board.
From one Cubs fan to another, I hope that helped. :)

They just don't play it as often as they do on other ships -- but it is a TON of fun! :)

I know they offer it like once a day...
Funny part is that during my last trip my mom wanted to play Bingo but found too many other things to do.

An the pot grows each day!
I won the 3rd to last pot for our trip when the Magic was out here last summer. I remember it clearly... the game was Corners, when you only have to get the four corners. I won $686!
I think the final pot was something like $2,500!
DH and I still talk about that day and sing song Corners the way the Cruise Crew member did with his great Aussie accent. Cor-Ners!

Hello,
Just got off a wonderful 3 night cruise to Nassau and Castaway cay on the Disney Wonder. (June 29 - July 2, 2006)
Bingo happened at least two nights on board. Usually around 8:00 PM. I played one game for the $300 cash prize. Each card cost $20 a piece but they had about 6 cards on the card you play simulateously. The winner had to have an "X" shape. The first night of the bingo seemed to fill up the hall. So probably go early if you want to be involved.
I believe the second night was the $2500 prize but I did not participate in that one.
For me, I wish they had some "free" bingo options. But I guess bingo can get rather expensive.
Enjoy your cruise. It is quite nice!
