Add the side of pommes frittes, and I'll join you. Hey - maybe we can split it w/o the $5 charge!
It's a date. Lunch on July 17th?

I am glad they are changing it. I remember in the past the blue bayou was a "fancy" exclusive feeling place... I witnessed a few marriage proposals and had many romatic meals there with my husband.
The last few times I have been there- it was more of a bustling family place with paper pirate hats and lot's of noise. Don't get me wrong- I have kids and they were thrilled with the pirate hats, but I think the BB lost some of it's ambiance. I hope they get that back with the higher prices and menu changes.
Will they still have a kids menu at the BB??
We ate at cafe orleans once last time we were there and were not impressed. I think the new menu and table service will much improve it. It has great atmosphere with jazz bands playing and the train coming and going.
I will get my Monte Cristo fix at the new Cafe Orleans, and save the BB for special occasions. ( as if just being at Disneyland is not special enough in itself!!! )

Sounds like you are talking about French Market. The French Market is located near the train station and has the stage with the bands. As has been said in other posts Cafe Orleans is situated between Jewel of Orleans and Le Bat en Rouge/Pieces of Eight.
I don't know about a children's menu but I know there is a revised version of the paper pirates hat.

I'm twenty and I always request a pirate hat. I'd be heartbroken if they were gone!

Hey another Bakersfield person!
It's a date. Lunch on July 17th?I'm there. And Steph, I will probably have enough points saved up between July and November to eat a corner of the one you order. (I know it's the wrong thread, but I *did* try to calculate it, and you don't want to know)

I've noticed that when I'm at DL, I never gain weight. Could the food be magically charmed to not have too many calories? Or maybe it's all the running around I do. By the time I finish a 3 day visit, I swear I have to have crossed the entire resort 10 times, minimum.

The last time I went to Blue Bayou I split a Monte Cristo with a friend. Six days later I weighed in and I'd lost weight. So I'm here to say it can be done! :)
I just don't know that it can be done while I'm eating soup and crepes AND bites of Monte Cristo...

Thanks. I will call them in a little bit to see if they are taking reservations for that time. If not, then I guess the Monte Cristo will just have to wait until next time.
In case you haven't had a chance to call them yet, they are taking reservations for Cafe Orleans. I called and made one today. At first, the CM wasn't sure if they were taking them and had to check. He said that the restaurant opened on the 25th but they had been told not to make reservations for the restaurant. He went away and then said that he talked to one of the other people, and there is apparently a maze of screens that they have to get through, but he was told how to do it, and he had no problem making my reservation.

How far in advance can you make a priority seating? Is it 60 days? Thanks.

Just wanted to chime in about Monte Cristos to go...yes, I too have done that before. I've ordered from Blue Bayou at the check in desk (the one inside)...they basically had a waiter come out, take my order, and I just sat in the waiting area while they made my order.

oleg -- unfortunately the max number of guests on a PS is eight, and that has been reached for mine. But nothing's stopping you from making your own!

It's truly disappointing that Disney is selling out and practically making every rumour FACT that they are just overpricing the Blue Bayou. I just simply do not understand the logic in creating a fancy 5 star sit down restaurant. It's Disneyland for gosh sakes, people are not going to be dressed in their tuxedos, gowns and high heels to eat there. The price increases are shocking, sure 2-4 bucks isn't very hard to swallow but come on, 6-15 buck increase?

I felt the same way. Then I started hoping that they are planning on making the Blue Bayou the kind of semi-exclusive "special occasion" restaurant that it used to be. Honestly, with the prices the way they were, everybody went to the BB at least once every trip to DL. You had to make reservations way in advance, and the ambiance was ruined by tables sqeezed in like sardines and families who didn't think of this as anything more special than a meal at McDonalds. The test will be in the seating. If they keep the squeezed in tables, then they've just sold out the BB and are squeezing the public one more time. If they actually back off a bit with seating density, stop seating people right next to the service doors, and enhance service, then it's an attempt to reposition Cafe Orleans as the "everyday" restaurant and BB as "something special".

Like I've been telling my boyfriend who's taking me to DL. Disneyland Calories don't count!! :fez: Thanks for the proof
I am disappointed though because I read in the park update June 9th for CO but, called Disney Dining and now it's June 26th but, I'm coming Sunday the 11th. I guess I'll just have to settle for breakfast at Carnation.

I'm confused by the "selling out" comment. How exactly are they doing that?

Disney management "sells out" every time they put profit ahead of the quality of the park. For example, when they refuse to pay decent wages even to long-term employees, reducing the pool of applicatns and thus the quality of service. Or when they cut back on maintenance. Or when they put in new rides that are cheaply put together with cardboard cutouts instead of "Disney Magic". There is nothing wrong with making a profit or with charging a premium for a high quality product. But when a company that is supposed to run the best amusement park in the world puts shareholder profit and management bonuses above the quality of the product, then their reputation suffers, and eventually their profit suffers. It may take a while to destroy a brand, but if enough people visit and have negative interactions with cast members, or see too much garbage, or think that the rides are overrated, then it will happen. Disneyland will go from being "the happiest place on earth" to being "the most overpriced tourist trap on earth".
