I haven't seen it yet.

But DD#1 and DD#2 saw it and loved it.

If you want to really impress your kiddies, DD#1(biology major) pointed out that they used the wrong scientific name for the possum. They said didelphis virginianus, but it should be Didelphis virginiana.

Virginia opossum=Didelphis virginiana

But could they have been saying it plurally? Didelphis virginianas? After all, there are more than one of them in the film.... (And the pick to have Shatner do the voice of the father was inspired!)

I don't know.
I guess one would have to get the DVD and a look at the script to be sure, but...

several creatures do have virginianus in their names, like white tail deer and great horned owls...and it is pronounced like it is spelled:eek: The "anus" part is pronounced and really doesn't sound much like virginiana, which sounds kind of like a girl's name to me.

I might name a girl Virginiana, but never never never Virginianus!:)
