We are relatively (son is 7 months) new parents. Experienced disneyland visitor.

As I understand it, Kids under 3 get in free (correct?).

Correct to figure that about 2 is when my son will start to get something out of going (more than just a nice day out in the southern california sun)

Yes, kids under three are free.

And yes to your comment about "getting something out of going" at around two years. They were around 18 months-2 years old when they started enjoying rides like "It's a Small World" and "Heimlich's Choo Choo" more.

I agree, my kids were right around two when they truly enjoyed it. They had fun when they were younger, but character recognition wasn't there yet.

We started our kids early. Six months for the first child, eight weeks for the second. Eight weeks was young for them to "get something out of going" but I do believe at six months my son was able to enjoy all of the different sights and sounds. He has no recollection of it now (at 8) but I sure do and I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.

I have been taking DD since she was about 6 months, and she definitely enjoys being there. She was mesmorized by IASW, and now at 14 months claps and gets all excited when we get near that area of the park.

Even the carousel, Casey Jr. & Dumbo have been big hits since the 6 month mark. (I think it might be the wind in her face, more than realizing I am in a flying elephant, but she enjoys it nonetheless.)

We got some good video of DD "singing" along with Small World (well, as much singing as a 9 month old can muster.) It has been great to be able to take her, and I think while she will never remember it, I will. :) It has definitely been fun to see how even in a few short months how her experiences have changed.

I agree that those early trips, before a year, are more for the parents memories. But they are memories none the less, and wonderful ones to have.
