Do the Wishes Cruises and kids mix? We want to surprise my mom while we are at WDW one evening and think she would like a birthday boat ride - - but, we're not sure how exposed you are to the smoke from the fireworks/if kids are allowed; etc.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

For the Wishes cruise you are PLENTY far enough away from the fireworks for the smoke to not be an issue. Illuminations Cruise can be an issue if the wind is blowing the right (i.e., wrong) way.
I haven't ever seen anything that said kids weren't allowed, but then I've never gone looking for the information. Oh, there was a post by someone in the WDW forum about getting a makeup wishes cruise, or something -- I think they had kids and that wasn't an issue. Let me go see what I can find....
ETA This thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=54383) has a bunch of info about the wishes cruise

Kids are definitely allowed, and the Wishes cruise is the one I recommend for them. Be sure to splurge a little bit and get the boat with sound. It's $250, but the soundtrack is excellent. What a great time you're going to have!

Thanks, all!!! You really helped make up my mind! I think the kids would prefer the Wishes cruise, anyhow.
I have 5 more days until I can make the reservations (we'll be 90 days out, then!)
Wahoo - - I can't wait!!!
