I am so excited I can hardly stand it! We leave in 11 days and I have lost focus in everything else and all I can think about is Disneyland. I need help. I can't get my mind off of how much fun we're going to have. Work and home tasks are slipping becasue I am daydreaming so much! HELP ME! hehehe

Last year was our first year to go (here is our photo gallery from that trip (http://cartwrights.smugmug.com/gallery/852820/)). We had more fun that humans should be allowed to have. We had so much fun that we're heading back. This time we're flying (last time we drove from Denver). My 5 year old daughter has already packed her bag.

What strategies can you give me for biding my time over the next 11 days?

Can't help ya. I remember my first time in '03. I planned our next trip for just a few months later I had such a great time. Leading up to that second trip, it was all I could think about. All I can tell you is it becomes easier the more trips you have under your belt. Not much, but somewhat. :~D

I can't help you with that either. In fact, I think my kids and I are going crazy! Our next trip isn't until August, but it can't come soon enough. Everyday on the way to school that is all we can talk about. I even got some new socks for our trip so I guess I have already started packing!:D

Hi, I was looking at your photos from your last vacation and it looks like you all had a good time!

Question: How did you get Belle to go on the carousel with you???? I bet your DD just loved that!!

Pass the time by watching your favorite Disney movies or listening to your favorite Disney CDs. Also, look on the DLR web site or other web sites.

Plan what attractions you want to visit and possibly how often. Go buy a guide book to read or to look at the pictures.

I spend obsessive amounts of hours on the interenet planning all the things I can't wait to do. I check this forum everyday to see if there is anythign new and interesting I should look foreward to, or I print out the disneyland secrets from hiddenmickeys.com and read those over and over. Pretty much expose myself to all disneyland stuff til I acutally get there! 6 days and counting for me!

That was a terrifict experience for all of us, especially DD. How did we get it to happen? It was just luck. When DD was getting a signature she told Belle that she was her favorite princess, and Belle asked DD if she would like to ride the carousel with her. Of course she said yes, and Belle's escort told her to meet them in front of the Plaza Inn at a certian time (I think it was about an hour and a half later). We said yes and went on our way.

We thought we would be part of a large group of girls, but it turned out to be a personal invitation for just DD and Belle. They met at the plaza and walked holding hands all the way to Fantasy Land to the carousel. As you can see from DD's face (http://cartwrights.smugmug.com/gallery/852820/6/38367180), she was in heaven. Lots of people stopped and watched them parade up to the carousel where after the current group got off they let DD and Belle get on first. Afterwards Belle gave DD a big hug and posed for a few more photographs, and she and her escort walked away.

Several people asked us how we got such an opportunity, assuming we won some sort of prize or something. It sure felt like we won since it was such a great experience.

We are leaving in eleven days too and the excitement is building. Right now the family has a nasty bug with three of us on antibiotics already. For now I am just focusing on getting everyone healthy enough to go.

Checking and rechecking all the details.

I can't help you with the excitement control- my next trip is over 200 days away and I am ready now!

Great pictures- that is such an awesome Belle experience, and I have to say that is the CUTEST BABY EVER in your photos!

I know exactly how you're feeling! I leave in less than 6 days and I can hardly stand it! The only thing I can say is enjoy this pre-trip excitement because when you get back home and those Disneyland withdrawals creep up you'll wish you felt the way you did before the trip! Right when you get home start planning another trip and you'll be all set. :)

I don't know about you, but for me, when I feel the craving, I pull down one of the guide books.

I depend on two:
• The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland
• Birnbaum's Official Guide to Disneyland

I review the maps of the "lands."
I read what the authors consider "must sees" or warnings.

Even the blatent blurbs that read like advertising is worth reviewing, if only to see what the author/sponsor considers worth highlighting. -- They want readers to look, so I will look.

Reviews will give a range of opinions, so you never know who's opinion matches yours. But you get the range.

(For example: Is "A Bug's Life" scary? -- For some yes. For some no. What do MOST reviewers say?)

This thread is so cute. It reminds me of the DL commercial where that darling little boy says, "We're too excited to sleep!". I can barely contain my excitement too and since I just returned from DL on Tuesday, I fully still feel that high!!! Enjoy your trip!

P.S. Adorable photos!!!!!

Hi! I am in Colorado too! We drove last fall and are planning another road trip for this summer. I don't know how I contain myself, but I know I don't do a very good job. :)

I drive everyone I know nuts. And I am fast turning our son into a DL nut too. My husband just rolls his eyes.... None the less, reading your post about being from Denver and going just re-ignited my want for a trip to DL!

We are staying somewhere new, the hotel Pepper Tree, the new sister property of the Lemon Tree. I always agonise trying to get the best place to stay for the least money. Right now on Trip Advisor Pepper Tree is the #2 property in Anaheim. So we gave up our room at the Hampton Inn and decided to try something new.

The other new thing we are doing this time is we are going to see an Anaheim Angels game and we will probably drive down to San Diego one day. What always amazes us is that no matter how often we go to DLR every trip is full of new experiences.

This time we are only taking our three youngest children so we plan to focus quite a bit more time on the kiddie rides this trip.

It is our children's first time to DL! (My fourth LOL but I haven't been for almost 20 years!) And this was pretty last minute...we decided to just DO IT, Two weeks ago! We will be spending 4 days in Disneyland with a break at the beach. So I think we will go the park on Sat., beach (Newport?) Sunday, then the park Mon. Tues. Weds.....
We are staying in the Marriott Suites..... I hope it will be OK.

How do you control your excitement?

I don't. I let it consume me. My associates, friends and family claim I run around in a giddy drooling daze for weeks prior to a Disneyland visit.

If it weren't for the fact that I strangely have absolutely no recall of those weeks leading up to a Disneyland visit...I'd call them all liars.

Hee hee...me too! But my drooling daze starts the second I book the trip! I then spend endless hours on MP and other sites taking in all the Disney I can. I plan out my dining and most importantly, listen to the DLR soundtrack again, and again and again! :D

Listening to the soundtrack is fun, except I get sad when I hear the POTC song... its going to be closed on our visit and that makes me sad. But then when I hear the tiki, tiki song I get happy again.

lol that sounds like a pretty accurate description of me :) My co-workers know that I am useless the last 3-4 days before I leave for Disneyland! lol

I need to try the packing and repacking trick. Sean and I forget so much when we go out there! That would work... I wouldn't forget things and I'd keep my mind busy for the week before the trip! lol thanks for the great idea! :)
