This is a sad story because I had just gone to the Wild Animal Park on Easter day and saw the cub and the dog paired that have been gaining a huge reputation around S.D. County when this sad story occured the very next day.

Koza, a lion cub that has charmed thousands of San Diego Wild Animal Park visitors in recent months, was euthanized yesterday after he was mauled by an adult lioness hours earlier.
Park spokeswoman Christina Simmons said a keeper had mistakenly removed a wire barrier separating the lion and the cub just before 9 a.m., and the lioness attacked.
Although workers separated the lioness and Koza quickly, the cub received three bites, at least one of which severely damaged his spinal cord, Simmons said.
After being examined and treated for several hours, the decision was made to put down the 5-month-old cub.
