Will it be worth buying tickets to both US And IOA for 2 adults and 1 child (5) Neither of us will be going on roller coasters or rides that our child wouldn't go on, and just don't know if there is enought there to merit the expense? Are there any packages available

You will get some differing opinions from other people, but I would say it's not worth your time or money. You and your five year-old will have much more fun at any of the Disney parks. Islands of Adventure does have a Dr. Seuss-themed area, but it is small and doesn't alone justify the price of admission. Universal Studios has a Nickelodeon area, so if your child loves people getting slimed then they might enjoy that, but again I don't think it makes it worthwhile paying to get in.

Let the contrary opinions fly! :p

If you would like to go to IOA yourself then by all means go. there is enough to do there to keep kids happy. things on every Island, not just Suess landing. over all I would very reluctantly agree with Iceman that there is more to do for 5yr olds at MK. but MK is by design more geared towards that age.

BTW my youngest daughter (six at the time) loved her first trip to IOA, Really loved here second (seven, almost eight), and is bugging to go back for her tenth

I also have to agree with the others, that you would be better off saving your money to spend at WDW rather than go to Universal Studios and the Islands of Adventure. We went with my 2 grandsons (9 and 6) about 2 years ago and were very disappointed.

The Islands of Adventure is more geared to the pre-teen, teen and young adults (and us oldsters who LOVE rollercoasters). Many of the rides had height restrictions and, as was mentioned the only age-appropriate part was Seuss Land(??). The merry-go-round was adorable, called something else. One Fish, Two Fish, etc. was pleasant. The architecture was like in the books but very, very little else for young children to enjoy unlike WDW.

Universal Studios is somewhat better but you get similar experiences at WDW which is included if you buy a package. Save your time, money and patience...you're going on vacation to enjoy yourselves and WDW is the only magic you will need for years to come.
