View Full Version : Weird question re: Toilet Seats in DL
gimp_boy76 04-06-2006, 10:57 PM Sorry I know this is a weird question, our 4 yr old is finally potty-training (he's on the Autism Spectrum so he's a bit behind) and he does really well with those padded toilet seats that fit over a regular seat so little bums don't fall in. I'm worried about our upcoming trip to DL do they have little potties for little bums or will I have to drag our seat from home with us? I don't really want to do that but I guess it has the added bonus of being a theft deterrent if left with our stroller:p
MammaSilva 04-06-2006, 11:01 PM The only 'little potties' are in the child care centers, the rest of the bathrooms are adult sized only...so if you don't want to have to truck to the center of the park every time he says he needs to go..I'd recommend one of those new big sized ziplock bags that have a handle and bringing your custom potty attachement for him.
gimp_boy76 04-06-2006, 11:09 PM ^^ That's what I was afraid of, you'd think that other kids would want the smaller ones, heck they have them at most elementary schools, I'm surprised there's not a few stalls in each bathroom. Maybe we'll practice on the big potty once he's ready, I just can't imagine dragging a toilet seat everywhere.
MommyTo2Boys1Girl 04-07-2006, 08:01 AM For cases where there are no little potties, I recommend sitting him sideways on the seat. My 4yo has been potty trained for over a year now, but he still fears falling in. Thankfully he stands to go pee so it is only an issue about pooping. If they sit sideways, he seems to feel less likely to fall in.
I always planned several trips to the little potties in the baby care center in a day at Disneyland, just because he likes to use those potties, even for standing and peeing.
Acutepenguin 04-07-2006, 04:16 PM We have a similar issue -- our daughter is very afraid of the "big potty". When we last went to Disneyland we took a padded seat into the park with us. It was easiest to just find a backpack it fit in and then also stick in a change of clothes and a package of those flushable wipes she likes.

Oh, and we also had a package of stickers to use to block the sensor on the "magic potties". She has issues when it flushes while she's sitting there.
GrumpyUTboi 04-08-2006, 04:45 PM as for detering people from stealing the strollers, it wont happen. We took a couple of diapers, filled them up with lemonade and melt chocolate and put them on the seat of the stroller in hopes that someone would be grossed out and not take them. Well, that didn't even help.
tmptink 04-08-2006, 05:07 PM FYI At One Step Ahead they sell a folding seat with handles for big toliets.

Good idea. I hate when that happens myself!
When I was little, I had a fear of Big Potties too. I have a vague memory of small toilets in Disneyland (Fantasyland) in the 60's and I was so happy! They aren't there any longer.
tmptink 04-08-2006, 09:37 PM In DCA they have small toliets in Bugland. It is a family bathroom.
hlbtimes2 04-10-2006, 10:54 AM I found a potty seat (sits on the potty like the padded ones), but it folds in to 1/4ths. It has sponge bob on it, I think I got it at Target. Its small, and does the job. Great to have at the hotel as well.
emilousmom 04-10-2006, 08:34 PM Try to find the ones that fold smaller, I have seen them at Kmart, Target, One Step Ahead, and Babies R Us. They are so much easier to use. We just hold the kid over the big toliet, lol

Great! I'll have to look for this, our son love's Spongebob, in fact anyone that knows about autism knows that autistic kids develop obsessions, Spongebob is his obsession. He'll quote full episodes to you, pratfalls and all.

Which reminds me, Grumpy: Are you ever going to clarify my confusion about all those stolen strollers (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?p=847020&highlight=stroller#post847020)?
