Since I am expecting again I have been researching baby carriers and slings. I found a new one that looks very promising (since I don't have the baby yet we have tested it on my two year old niece who didn't really want to be in it..LOL!) here it is.

http://crafts.sleepingbaby.net/wrap.html

This is a wrap/sling that crafty people (the non-crafty can use the no-sew option or the lady who owns the site does sell already made ones) can make at home and for alot less than the price of some of the ones I have seen on the web and at stores. I purchased enough fabric and notions to make two of these for less than $20.00. It can be used for a number of carry positions including face-in, face out, legs-in or legs-out, when used as a sling the baby can lay down. Anyhow I know there has been much debate here on this board about different carriers and so I wanted to share this with you.

I ordered a sling from Jan (sleepingbaby.net) when my son was an infant. Her sling was very comfortable to wear and reasonably priced. She answered all the questions I had about her slings from what sling size to order, what type of material to use to helping me determine what type of sling ring to get.

I used the sling until my son was about 2 years old. I used it in the "hip carry" position a lot, which helped since he was such a "clingy" boy. It was very convenient to use at the DLR when we'd be in line and he wanted to be carried. My arms didn't get tired like they would've been if I had to carry him w/o a sling to help support him.
