I have a couple questions as to how baby swap works? Do you need a Fast Pass to do a baby swap? Or do you just tell a CM and get in line? If so which line standby or FP? There will be 4 adults during a portion of our visit, can we still do baby swap? Thanks

Baby swap is quite easy, but varies slightly from ride to ride. I will give you two examples of typicle swaps and how they work.

at ToT in MGM you and your non riders will wait in line, watch the preshow together, and when you come to the boarding area in the boiler room you tell the bell hop. the bell hop then escorts non riders to the lower level exit of the ride where you will wait for your riders. when they come off you switch. if your party consists of more then three people for example a party of four with only one non rider then the person waiting and riding second may take another person back with them so they don't have to ride alone. (this is actually true for all rides that do swaps).

AT RnRC as you enter the line they will measure the non rider if nec. then give the person waiting with them the equivelant of a FP, it's a yellow card that says child swap I think, and you wait in the courtyard. after the first ride the waiting person gets their chance, once again they make take someone with them.

FP is useful still as you will not have to wait in line if you have FP. rather present yourself at the entrance and let them know you have FP and wish to do a swap. in all cases just ask at the entrance, the CM will be happy to tell you the proceedures for that particular ride.

no fp needed. just wait your turn in line as a group and when it is your turn, just tell the cm that you want to do the baby swap. Then 2-3 of your adults can ride w/o the baby while at least adult waits with the baby. When that ride lets off, the adult(s) that did not ride the first time will get to immediately board to ride their turn. A great idea, we plan on using it a lot in May with my 3 year old neice & nephew and 6 month old nephew.

While there are some variances, here is the general way how it works. Feel free to ask a CM at the ride for specifics....

- Go to the cast member working the FP line and ask them for a rider swap ticket.
- Your party, minus the one(s) watching your little one, go enjoy the ride.
----- If you do not already have a FP for the ride, you go through the standby line like normal.
----- If you have a FP, proceed through the FP line.
- After you return, the rest of your party, minus the little one and a caretaker, can go through the FP line to enjoy the ride.
- The person holding the rider swap ticket can bring either two or three guests with them. (I cannot remember, but I believe it is stamped on the rider swap ticket.

The number of adults in your party does not matter. At the same time, during peak times, combining this with a FastPass makes things go by rather fast.

The rider swap option is great - hope you are able to use it as much as possible.
Hope this helps.

EDIT: Wow! Got a lot of answers in a matter of minutes! Great minds think alike. (Either that or we just dont want to start our day at work...)

GusMan had it well said (my experience on ToT wasn't the same as EFoxx).

1) go to the CM managing the FP line and say you want a baby swap. They will look to see who they need to give it to or sometimes they'll just hand it to you.

2) get in either the FP line (if you have a FP) or standby.

3) the person waiting can bring 2 or 3 others with him/her.

One note, on busy days they might ask to hand the person waiting the baby swap pass in person. In talking to a CM once, we were told that they have periodically had notices to keep people from abusing baby swap. Thus, a kid can't just ask for a baby swap pass and they also don't want the same people to ask for a pass more than once. Also, for some reason I've had CMs that just want a break or something or a chance to see our baby because I've had them ask me to point out my wife and they say they'll bring the pass over themselves. Either that or they are hitting on my wife... man those sneaky CMs.

Great info above! Could you make it more clear to an old fart please?

Here is our situation, will this work?:
No one likes to ride alone, so I was thinking...
Our 7 y/o son is not as "brave" as the 10 y/o regarding some of the rides. There are 4 in our group.
We get 4 FP tickets.
We come back at the time designated on the FP, then let the CM know that 2 of us will ride, while 1 of us (with FP ticket) will wait at the exit of the ride with the 7 y/o.
The first two finish.
Can we take the 7 y/o FP and "swap", then the two of us do the ride?

For instance:
4 FP's tickets.
Rider A and Rider B enter the ride
Rider C and Non-Rider D wait.
Rider A and Rider B finish.
Now, Rider C and Rider A enter the ride while Rider B and non-rider C wait.

Will this work? Or are we stuck with 2 riding, then a single riding?

Yes, that works fine. That is what the baby swap ticket "Return with up to three other members of your party" is for. They know that it sucks to ride alone. Our party of four is always an issue with that... who wants to be the odd one out?

Also, use your baby swap for both A and C to return. Then you can use the 2 remaining FPs to ride a second time:

4 FP

Riders A and B use their 2 FP

Riders A and C use "baby swap"

Riders A and B use 2 FP (C and D's)

Rider A and C use "baby swap" again

And don't forget that you don't have to use your FPs during the stated times. As long as your "Return" time has passed, you can use the FPs any time that day.

Excellent! Didn't know! Good info! When we were there in 2003, it was the first week in Dec. No lines to speak of so FP wasn't necessary and we had grandparents with us for the littlest one...this time we don't, so this info is good stuff! Thanks!

Of course, you could always use that factor to "double-up" on your Fastpassed rides. For example: Get two Fastpasses for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Use the other two tickets to get Fastpasses for Tower of Terror. Use Fastpasses to ride RnRC, then baby swap for second ride. Use Fastpasses for ToT, then baby swap for second ride. That way, you've got two attractions Fastpassed at the same time, using baby swap for the second ride on each.
